I welcome Jon to the club and hopefully he provides healthy competition to Sam Walker. Will Sam want to stay now though is a different matter. Hopefully he does.

I must confess to have never heard of him until the rumours started doing the rounds last weekend, so know very little of him.

Good luck to him and hopefully he is able to cement his long term future as our number 1 keeper.

Unlikely any City fan has heard of him or knows anything about him let alone seen him play. A complete unknown. Could be great, average or gash… only time will tell.

They will have done plenty of work on him , I’m pretty sure a three year deal wouldn’t have been offered otherwise ? Good age and plenty of time to develop even more . A bit like Metcalfe.?

A far better option than a 19 year old rookie loanee imho. Before anyone asks Pickford wasn’t the player he was then as he is now ! A calamity was always round the corner inc sendings off.

He has a few games under his belt. That's good. The reel was good but you dont really know. Two good keepers hopefully with a long term keeper.

I feel that's harsh Kev. You could absolutely see the lads ability whilst he was here and his kicking was as accurate as anything I've ever seen live. That also includes our spell in the PL btw.

I think I recall on the Claret and Banter forum, a fair few posters agreed that one day Pickford could play for England.
All goalkeepers make mistakes but his class outshone any minor faux pas' he made.

McCracken played for Accrington at VP in Alexander's first win as City manager. Tommy Leigh was also on the pitch for Stanley.

Yes he had ability , yes his distribution was a level above what we were used to , however let’s not kid ourselves he was infallible . Even today he is prone to the rash decision, aka Ghana at the same time fully capable of pulling off a worldie . Above all Dave he wasn’t ours . He was pulled back to his home club during the mid break window from memory and sent to Preston (?) . I’m pretty sure he was also sent off two or three times ( not checked ) working from memory because of his headless decision making? . This new lad has far and away more experience than the one allegedly joining Hudds.

I haven't seen either McCracken or Young play so it's hard to judge who'll fair better but I certainly wouldn't rule players out based on loan status, age and experience. Lewis O'Brien taught me that one.
