Nor me, but Sarcevic struggled to consistently play regularly at times. It’s increasingly a squad game think both will get plenty of game time

Sparks said in his recent interview that there will be players leaving this summer so this isn't really a surprise. Not sure it will be the best move for him at this point in his career if he's moving up and not going to get regular game time, but I guess we'll see.

Am I alone in thinking losing Metcalfe isn't the end of the world?

Lad had a good 4 months and clearly has a lot of potential. I don't want to lose him either, but at the same times he's still raw. This is the model we need to adapt and selling players for good £ over 12-18 month periods is what we should be looking to achieve.

From his point of view, I don't think he's ready to move on up yet, unless it's with a view to loaning back out to L1.

If it allows us to spend transfer fees and wages on a few quality players, it makes sense to be fair.

 

IF we sign it's a case of where Alexander sees him playing. We've already seen the 'experiment' with Humphrys in a position he clearly doesn't feel comfortable in, it may well be that Philips can play elsewhere but I don't know enough about him.

 

He did but we were flogging him at times and he was one of few goal threats we had!

I wouldn't say anyone coming in means he's off, what we need are more options in those front three spaces so that if he's having an off game, Jackson can have a go. If Pointon starts poorly, bring on Humphrys. We want to have more options not less.

 

If he does go then credit has to go to Sharpe and the recruitment team. We've banged on for years about us developing players, this would be the end product.

 

Agreed but it would be nice to see a bit more of him before he gets taken off our hands. Unearthing another talent like this isn't a given.

 

I honestly can't see Metcalfe going for big bucks...yet. If he has a good season next season then maybe, but not at the moment.
Hope he stays whatever.

I can imagine us wanting a good fee but I can't see anyone actually wanted to pay one.

 

The latest from the guy who's pretty accurate is :
Phillips and Dempsey are done deals, we are in advanced talks with Elder and Young (who will be a loan) and we are actively trying to get deals done for Frankie Kent from Hearts (centre back) and one of either Morsey and Wintle, how true I dont know but it keeps the footfall up .

It will be interesting to find out what we got for Metcalfe (if he's gone) we got £850,000 for McCall nearly 40 years ago ?, now I'm not putting Metcalfe in the same sort of quality McCall was but the above figure was a lot of money in 1988.

 

It’s a balance, as his value could drop, as well as increase?

 

IF he has gone, surely it will be a fee with add ons. Can't see it yet though as he has yet to master league 1.
