And the reason I got into our beloved team, my god father was playing for city at the time, the one and only Gerry Ingram before he buggered off to Washington diplomats in 1976, still have the odd word with him now he is resettled back in Beverley, top fella and I have a good few momentos from his time in the states with a signed pic of himself and a certain captain of NY Cosmos

Born in October 1943 at St Lukes Hospital I lived for the first 22 years of my life in Thornbury Avenue and, after numerous changes of habitation within the Bradford area, I have now lived in Idle for the last 25 years. I went to Thornbury Infants School, then Thornbury Junior School followed by Hanson Grammar School for Boys when it was down Barkerend Road. My first experience of watching football was when my father, who was born in Halifax, took me to watch Halifax Town in the early 1950s. This included a cup run in 1953, when they beat Cardiff City and Stoke City, both of which were then in the old First Division. In the 5th Round they were drawn against Spurs, but I wasn't allowed to go as the expected crowd was considered to be too dangerous for me. Spurs won anyway! My introduction to Bradford City came in February 1954 when my cousin persuaded me to go with him to watch City v Carlisle, which we won, and the rest is history. I've been hooked ever since, and have followed the club at more than 75 different grounds over the past 72 years or so, including 2 different Wembleys!

Poor I.B , I bet you have no idea of these geographic locations. We’re a pretty widespread bunch. (I suppose that’s true of all teams and their fans).

I recognise a few tbh, some well travelled folk. There's a recurring theme family ties, and bitten by the bug which I can relate to.

Born at BRI in the late 70s. Lived in Shipley for six months but then my Dad’s job took us down south. Still came back to Bradford regularly and despite flirting with Liverpool as a lot of kids did back then got hooked when my Dad took me to VP for the first time in 1984.

Lived in Chester for many years so an easy commute over the Pennines meant I came over for most home games and a lot of local away games. As my username suggests I’m now on the south coast so work, family life and travelling make it harder to get to VP as often but ifollow and Sky Sports have made things easier.

I live in a little village called Abertysswg , in Gwent , South Wales . My dad Nicholas Lobodzinski lived in Undercliffe as a child . Moved down here when he was16 , as my nan and gramps seperated . My nan came from the next village to where i live . Went to my first City game in 1985 , Newport County away at Somerton Park . Been to numerous games since , including Wembley play offs twice , 1996 and 2013 . Wonder if there's anyone on this group who can remember , or knew my dad as a child ?

They are conjoined twins, born under a rock in a land far far away in 1911.
Went to the School of Abject Negativity where both excelled in whinge-enomics.
They left school at 12 years of age but are still 12 years of age.
They rode a tandem to work at a wool sorting mill and smell of lanolin to this day.
Their first city game was on December 7, 1957, a 0-4 drubbing by Darlington.. they re-live that game like it's groundhog day.

Born and raised in Harrogate, grew uo watching Ipswich in my early years until my older brother took me to watch city, started going at around 10 years old and had a season ticket ever since. Was tge only kid at my school with a city top on as most are lxxds or prem team fans. My kids are now enduring the same luxury.
Had some great days from Wembley 96 to Chelsea away and wouldn't change it for the world.

So I was brought up in Cumbria (formerly Yorkshire prior to 1974) however my Dad was a Bradfordian and mum from Halifax. Dad was actually a PA fan but lost interest in football as a fan following their demise. I became football mad in early 80's and the first match Dad took me to was an FA cup match between Man City and Cardiff in 1982. The following week he took me to Bradford City v Hull, that being our promotion year from Div 4. As an 8 year old I can't say I was hooked, but spending a lot of time in the Halifax/ Bradford area at Grandparents, and amongst my friends it became cool to like a less fashionable club, so in my early teens I started going regularly whenever I could and that's when the obsession really started.
Fast forward to now, I live in the Peak District area and have 2 sons who have no real affinity to Bradford, yet have become mad keen City fans following them home and away. I guess I have to take responsibility for their life of suffering when logic would have seen them supporting Man City or Utd!
Interesting to read many of these posts and it seems family loyalty/ influence does have a huge bearing on tbe team you follow!
