Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

The Barnsley away game sticks in my mind. Barnsley down to 10 men very early on yet they worked out pretty early we had no threat down the middle, at times they ran straight through it even with a player less.

 

On keepers, id someone mention Oli Whatmuff on here? Young Man City keeper who had a good loan at Rochdale last season? Sounds like he is following McNulty to Stockport for another loan season.

Oldhams keeper Matt Hudson is being chased too by Notts, Wigan and Plymouth, he won the L2 golden gloves last season. I believe a few of these clubs were also linked alongside us for Brad Collins?

 

Burton at home also.. they overloaded midfield and caused havoc.

 

Believe he’s mates with a lot of the Luton lads. Remember him getting shit online for having a laugh with them after our loss at their place, rightly or wrongly.

 

Re Kyron Gordon, Sam Byrne is a Stockport journo who gets pretty much everything bang on, including our signings from County, and has said that Stockport had been looking at him for a long time before their managerial change.

Would imagine it’s a case of the new manager coming in and the move finally making a little bit more sense for all parties. Seen him described as an incredibly “useful” player, whatever that means.

I know we need a bit more young talent but I’d still be a bit unsure of that signing myself. Agree that Stockport may be at risk of dropping off a bit

 

I think it’s the exact type of signing we need to be making more of.

 

Young midfielder, not really played a lot of football. He has 58 apps to his name across CH, L1 & L2 but in 58 games he's only managed just over 2,000 mins of football, average app of just under 35 minutes a game. Tough to know what he brings to the table. Guessing he will be a L2 player again now he's a free agent, and Neufville and him are probably just mates who swapped shirts when they came to VP?

 

No idea mate. If he did a decent job for Wimbledon you would imagine they would be in for him permanently.

We tried for Jimmy-Jay Morgan in January didn't we? Or that was the rumour but he's on like 10k a week at Chelsea and Peterborough were paying daft amounts for his loan? Anyway, Chelsea are open to him leaving and Posh are linked again as well as Champ clubs. Dunno if we would try again for a deal, but 20 year old forward who can play across the line will be chased by a fair few for a potential resale.

He's the type of profile I'd like us to try and bring in if they are affordable. The up side with a signing like this could be fairly significant although granted, young players are usually a gamble.

Affordability is the big question. If you are an agent though now, there's evidence with Pointon and Metcalfe that if you are young enough and good enough you will play and shop window yourself for the next move. Young players going from 5 figure a week deals to whatever we can throw at them in L1 is going to be the killer though i think.

 

PL retained lists are all due out today and a fair few have come out this morning. Might be a few lads who were loaned lower down released who might tempt a few folk.
