My thoughts as well. I certainly won't boo him. He was the captain we haven't had since Magic left and led the team to a position non of us dared to hope. For that alone, I will applaud him when he returns with Wigan(provided he is not suspended). It turned out a 2 way deal; we helped him get his fitness credibility back and he helped us getting support back through some stirring home performances. As said by others he is replaceable but doesn't deserve trashing.

An hour and a half from West Lancs to Apperley Bridge and then another hour and a half back might seem like a doddle. But my drives over (mainly Manchester airport to Eccleshill and back) have been anything but a stress free drive. Winter weather, driving rains, high winds, people driving like lunatics, and that’s just in May! No, good luck to him and his family. He did a job for us, he moves on. So do we.

It's a comparison of a similar commute time Kev, not a Monty Python sketch ffs.

Power did reasonably well, always gave his all, leaves with a respectful and transparent statement. He's not irreplaceable, would preferred to have kept him, but it is what it is. Players are human beings, we don't know what he's got going on in his life and if it's a move that works for him personally, so be it. Who are we to judge? Good luck to him. What's key, is that we replace him properly. It's an area we already needed to improve, so that challenge now becomes more pronounced.

I've no issue with power moving on.

But maybe the should insist that a player lives within an hour on the club.

    Exactly.

I bet his agent was badgering Wigan, Stockport, Bolton, every club over that way 12 months ago and they were not biting. Just pictures him in a selfish light in my view.

Too many as usual quick to make assumptions about Max, he has made the move for his own personal reasons, anyone would think the same. Football is a short lived career as a player and he has to make the best decision for him and his family.
Thanks Max for your efforts to move Bradford City forward, you gave your best and that’s all we could ask for.

Wigan must be delighted he has returned because they are convenient for him.

Had the stars alligned for us, he certainly wouldnt be giving up championship wages to save 45 mins I can tell you that much...

Repeat a lot of what has been said, Power was a great captain and played his midfield role very well. Did a lot of the ‘non glamorous’ parts of the game which was essential to our success last season. I imagine he also had a positive impact on Metcalfe in how he played his game and influential role on and off the field.

Heads turn to the replacement now. Non-negotiable we get two parts right:
    - his replacement on the pitch.
    - our new captain

I’m not familiar enough nowadays to propose who comes in.
For captain, I’d like to see that as a new recruit (doesn’t have to be the new CM). See a lot suggest Sarce but not for me. Let him be the maverick he is in his playing role and still influence around him. We need a captain like Jones and Power who carry different roles around the club, players and manager.

Powers departure was not something I expected, but it brings new opportunity which is exciting.

Of course he wanted a way back in and he took the opportunity with both hands and didn’t let anybody down. This opportunity has cropped up which suits him to the ground in just about every aspect. I am more bothered about what city do but from his point of view it’s a no brainer

Especially when you couple that with his post match interview after the Bolton play-off defeat where he was saying that he hoped the club would build on the squad for another push this season.....bet his agent was already in discussions....

Bring in 2 dynamic CMs and put the captaincy on a new leading CB. That way one of the CMs isnt an automatic choice despite shite form. Gives us more options to explore our squad.

Why wouldn't he want us to do that? I genuinely think he enjoyed playing for us and wants us to do well, regardless of whether he is part of that or not.

He's being honest, I can't see the problem. He's been honest throughout his spell with us.

You have absolutely no idea what I do and what my working day looks like but I can assure you I have ‘done it’
I’ve regularly commuted to London, Edinburgh and recently Exeter to do a full days work. My weekends then spent travelling up and down the country supporting these players who don’t need much of an excuse to complain.
I have zero sympathy for some privileged guy whining about starting work at 10am, runs around a bit, has dinner and is home before 3pm. Then collecting his 5k a week.

They had a different manager when he signed for us. Gary Caldwell only signed in February, he signed Power for his first spell at Wigan over 10 years and clearly wants him to try and push the club forward. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about, he did a job and we now need to source a better replacement.

Exactly. If Wigan had brought in a different manager with no previous history of working with Power then the opportunity for him to return might not have arisen.

Why mention the training ground which is now becoming standard for midfield captains to mention. Does he live in Liverpool somewhere?
