I was one that questioned if travel was the main reason and I was wrong because he's clearly admitted that it is. I also respect his honesty but even with 3 hours of travelling added onto the training day, he's still probably away from his family for less time than most of us that work 8 hours with travel on top. I think I'd have respected him more if he'd just said the opportunity to return to the club where he's enjoyed so much success was too good to turn down.

We all have family but most of us start work at 8 and finish at 5 with sometimes a commute either side of that.
He had to drive an hour to work to start at 10am and be home before the kids finished school
He’s come across as an over privileged Twit. Good riddance. I liked him last season but he’ll be getting booed by me on his return to VP next season.

It doesn't really matter what the circumstances of anybody else is, it's his own personal circumstance. He's probably saving over two hours a day at least on his travel for the duration of his contract at Wigan, it's clear he values his time and where he is able to spend it. I'd argue you gave anyone a change to save 2 hours a day not sat in a vehicle on the god forsaken M62 they would take it l.

Yeah I think enough of us saw pretty quickly that Power and Metcalfe isn't the partnership, far too slow and both want to sit. We need some legs for that CM room now to let Metcalfe play the ball more.

Think he was something like the 28th overall ranked CM on whoscored last season, which is probably about right. He isn't going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck anymore, he isn't going to run 10km across the pitch every game, but he gets stuck in and breaks up play and is still very capable with a long ball.

I wont miss his ability to get a yellow card, point at everyone else and corners at all.

Well you need to find a better job with less of a commute so you can spend time with your family

It's football I don't see a problem, he was Captain of a team that did so well last season, some thing most fans never expected, we've put him in the window as there must have been doubts in both player and clubs mind about his fitness, he's proved his fitness playing over 50 games ( mostly a starter) and we've got a fee, you'd think Power spoke with Alexander at the end of the season so it's not as if he's left us in the lurch, I don't have a problem with him leaving.

You're right, it doesn't, I just think it's a bit of a lame reason given he knew the journey time when he signed for us last summer. Don't remember any of the North East lads complaining about how long it took them to get here either. Like I said, I'd have had more respect for him if he'd left the travel part out altogether because going back to a club where he's enjoyed so much success, where he has friends and where his son plays for the academy is reason enough.

He’s a top fella , great captain and leader. Good luck to him and his family . Exceptional business for him and extremely brilliant business for BCAFC .

Classy piece from Power and despite some sour grapes he did a brilliant job for us captaining a side that vastly overachieved. His departure could be disruptive but we should wish him all the best for the future

3 hours travel a day is laughable tbh. 90 mins into work, 90 mins outta work. What time do they finish training? I bet it isnt 5pm.

Like you say, leave that bit out.

I've done it Kev, setting off at 6.30am and not getting home until nearly 7pm. Sorry if I don't have a lot of sympathy for someone who's working day doesn't start until 10am and is over by 2pm.

And what do YOU DO at weekends whilst these people are travelling long distances away from their family playing football away from home multiple days at a time , slumming in hotels ? Get real ..You ain’t done it is my best guess
    . “ Sometimes a commute “ isn’t 15 minutes on the City Circle bus!

I can agree with a lot of this - maybe he should have thought about where he was going to live when he signed for City, if living close to a training ground is important to him. What was his motivation - move to England or move to City?

I believe his words about commitment to the cause; he was a strong captain and represented the club well.

As a player - he was always available, but, we needed a few goals and a few less yellow cards.

Onwards to his replacement and the next Captain.

I get that but really, how hard is it to open Google maps and check out a journey time before you commit to a two year contract.

It just gives the impression that he was so desperate to get back into English football that he didn't do his homework properly and we were the closest offer he got to home.

Now he proved he can still play at league one level, Wigan have decided to make the offer they didn't want to make 12 months ago when they thought he was passed it.
