Hopefully we can find new clubs for Humps and Swan. Free some budget to sign a younger prospect.

 

I'm sure there will be too but had you asked any of us a few weeks ago who we thought those players might be, I bet none of us would have said Power. Funny old game init?

 

Agree, he would probably be the last tbh.

 

Hopefully both and pool the resource to bring in one better/proven striker (even if it's a loan). We've got Powell and Jackson that can fill in and 4 strikers isnplenty if we're retaining the formation.

 

Powell hasnt signed a new contract yet as far as I am aware.

 

We'll probably not find out until the end of April next year when he suddenly appears on the bench.

 

Hopefully he will. He's got undoubtedl quality and won't be banging on the managers door wanting 90 minutes every week so it makes him a useful squad man to take the weight off the other forwards if we can keep him fit enough.

 

He did show when he came on as a sub that bit of quality. However, too risky for me given his injury track record. I dont see the point of having someone who is happy to sit on the bench because he cant do 90 minutes, effectively wasting a valuable squad spot

 

Remember, if we get other clubs fans on here asking what we think of Humps.. he's eager, beats players with wizardry, great with both feet and heading and always up for the battle.. Shhhh!

We tell Wigan they can only have Power if they also take Humps back too. Seems fair to me.

 

Humps can go for me but I’d keep Swan

 

That depends on who we get instead. If it's another kid who's absolutely miles away like Wheatley then I'm taking Powell all day long.

Beesley, Jackson or a.n other will likely take the lions share of the minutes anyway so I can't see many opportunities for a 90 minute run out for anyone else barring something catastrophic injury wise.

 

Having a very experienced player with proven higher level ability and footballing nous to bring on and help see out games is a valuable asset to the squad IMHO. There are plenty of other squad places to be filled with younger legs, so using one squad place for a player with Powell’s attributes is a positive, not a waste, for me.

 

Couple of games at the end , no messing ball straight to the corner flag and the opponent struggled to get it off him , as opposed to give it to Walker to punt straight back to their keeper. That was brainless!

 

I agree as Swan has time to grow still and showed us at the start of last season what he can do, the problem is keeping him fit as he was out for a few months a couple times last season. I can see a player in Humps but most the time he comes across as greedy and selfish on the ball. He was very inconsistent last season and I can't image him staying after his contract next summer tbh. It depends whether GA wants him for another season to see how he performs before possibly offering him a new deal if he plays well.

 

He's never stuck around long at any of his clubs and looks completely disinterested most of the time. I'm sure some of his post match comments, however honest, won't have gone down well with GA either. I'd say the chance of him being offered a new contract is zero, and I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if we offload him this summer or failing that, January.

 

100% . GA has persisted with him but his best opportunity to showcase himself V Bolton was pretty abysmal. His time is up for me . I hope I’m wrong but my patience is exhausted after that game .

 

Ha, I remember him saying he was bored. Well so are we Stephen.

 

I heard were getting £200k for Power and Beesley was £300k if true that's sound business by the club ?.
