I think you are taking everything GA says at face value and looking too deep into this. Getting players into the club isnt an issue - the last 2 summers are proof of that. And before you bark back about January, they got 7 players in, they just didnt work out.

    Its May 21st, chill!

I thought Ryan Wintle bossed games i watched of Cardiff this season, surprised he has been allowed to leave on a free unless he wants to move for other reasons.

It's tough with our midfield, as you aren't going to bring in a challenge for your captains deeper DM/CM role, if anyone is a Power backup it's going to be a young kid or another Evans type on a cheap deal who knows they arent going to play. Metcalfes slot is the one that will probably get competition, but again do you want someone to take minutes off a sellable asset?

If we could get Wintle, it would be a no brainer for me. We should always be looking to upgrade current players whenever possible.

Oh come on , you haven’t a scooby how it works in football. They know who is at the end of a deal perhaps two years in advance of every EFL registered player . We will have gone into April with two lists , one for CC and one for L1 . Agents will be being spoken to 365 days a year. Power was being discussed and approached a YEAR before signing . Let’s just let them get on with their job Andy instead of being critical without knowledge . Take what any club says with a massive salt lake .

    I thin
i think they signed about 4 players in the first month of preseason last year. And Jackson was lined up well in advance in January. Hardly reactive

Reading this I'm not sure Wintle would fit in well with GA's team

    https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/barry-murphy-shown-ruthlessness-again-33979821

It's paywalled but here's the key bit for me

Given what Erol Bulut previously said about Wintle’s mentality and standards, it is difficult to imagine the midfielder happily accepting a reduced or rotational role. Barry-Murphy himself offered a small glimpse into that dynamic during the season.
When asked about Wintle being an ever-present, the manager joked that the midfielder had reminded him about a three-game spell on the bench during October and November. It was an off-hand comment, but telling nonetheless.
Barry-Murphy has built a culture around rotation, adaptability and collective responsibility. The manager also benefited from a massive clear-out of older, experienced heads and maybe some problematic personalities last season, allowing him a group of players he could mould to his image.

When we sign loans for next season we need to sign some quality players like Bolton seem to have done

In all honesty even in our wildest dreams if we were going to sign a player or this quality, I'd prefer Jamie Allen from Cov over Wintle.

Would probably need a change in formation and approach but I'd love one or two play makers to be brought in.

Oh I yearn for a cut price version of a Gareth whalley or Robbie Blake.

I watch the goals roundups from the EFL and often sit and wonder "why don't we score goals like that".

When was the last time our striker got put through one on one with the goal keeper?

When did we outnumber the defence two on one and score a simple goal?

We actually create bugger all in all honesty, majority of our goals seem to be scrappy pinball penalty area ones
