John Middleton RIP

    Morning Bantams, sad news I’m afraid.

    I’m writing to inform you of the passing of your former player, and my uncle, John Middleton. Some of you may remember John and his brother Pete (my dad) from the 70s.

    John passed away on Wednesday at home. He probably wouldn’t thank me for announcing this on a forum, but I thought it was only right given he played for Bradford City 192 times, scoring 5 goals for the club.

    We’re all Owls in the family, but Bradford City will always be our second club.

    RIP Uncle John.

    Sorry to hear this very sad news, he was an important player for us in the 70s and played a vital part in our cup run to the quarterfinals in 76 and our promotion in 1976/77.

    great player ...made my 76 cup run (went to every game) very enjoyable... RIP

    City just posted the passing of John . Made 200 appearances for City , his brother Peter , also played for City .. Both not now with us. Rest in Peace . Made my teenage years !

    I remember him and his brother very well playing for us in the 70's.

    Always sad to hear the passing of a former player.

    He used to go to Bradford University bars and gigs on Saturday night with Bruce Bannister.

    Bumped into them a time or two in the early 70’.

    Went into pub trade locally for a while (don’t know how long for) after finishing playing including Pack Horse in town. This is where I saw him. I think he only played for us and don’t know if he then went back to his roots in Sheffield later in life as I never saw him again?

    Hi,
    Ran the junction inn in Otley for a good few years, then a number of pubs in and around Rotherham and Sheffield. Spent his latter years in Wombwell.
