This question applies regardless of the division although I’d be willing wager a large amount it’s league one. What I saw today was structure, work effort, fitness and commitment none of that can be disputed. Quality huge lack throughout the squad and it’s been evident all year. Quality costs and it’s been done to death that I think we deserve more and would
Love more than anything for Rupp to leave however that’s also unlikely. With a league one next season of:
    Leicester
    Oxford
    Sheff weds
    Plymouth
    Luton
    Town
    MK Dons
    Possibly Bolton, Stockport, chesterfield

How the hell do we keep momentum and the answer is brining in more quality but how can we do it with the restricted finances and the teams above will out pay us no doubt.

We have no advantages like fantastic facilities, the only thing to draw players is the manager and the fans.

For me one thing has to be a focus on quality over quantity which was neglected in Jan. Start looking further a field. I would sacrifices the wages of white, Sibley to get a scout in other leagues looking a different talent. It’s all
Short term thinking we are going to have to start at some stage boxing clever.

Leicester are likely to not have a lot of money and likely they will have to sell to cover the high loss in income they'll have, Sheffield Wednesday are going into the summer with no idea of what budget they will have and they'll be starting with -15.

Lots of people said at the start of the season how would we compete with the likes of Bolton, Luton, Huddersfield, Plymouth but we have done.

At the moment i'm more bothered about enjoying what we are doing this season then worry about next season whenever this season is over.

I’d worry more about what the hell we are going to do in the Championship with players like Tilt, Power, Swan, Baldwin, Jackson, Humphries and Lapslie. Without significant investment then we are going to be panned week in, week out.

I know you love a good moan and want Rupp out even if he’s funding large losses but even you must admit we’ve achieved far more than most expected this season. Our restricted budget that you claim was an excellent summer transfer window, remind you that you had a great moan because you claimed we were refusing to bring in Matty Taylor who has been a flop at Doncaster. As regards January the recruitment team got it wrong but there was no star striker signing available in January who a club would let go. We will improve in the summer but of course should we lose to Guiseley in a friendly you’ll be once again wanting the protest movement to start again as you did in the past.

I put all our success down to GA those players are bog standard bar Bobby and Sarce. He gets all the credit for making a sows purse of the hand he was dealt. Yes I can’t abide Rupp and his tenure I make no bones about that, I sit not far away from his box and i could see him today genuinely engaged but I can’t forgive nor forget the mess he’s overseen.

I thought there was a quality gap today, yet we came away with another draw against a better side.

I don't know how long we can keep it going in League One, but we'd for sure struggle at Championship level.

This is the whole point of the post surely Sharpe Rupp Sparks are thinking GA is going to need to perform a miracle next season, outside of that how can we attack it differently. Having a Jan window in the summer will result in us doing what Leyton Orient have done this summer, overarchive last year bang back to reality this year and it’s been uncomfortable close to the drop zone for them.

Still is. They could be down next week if we lose and they fail to beat Burton.

Would anyone be suprised if we are in that position next year. They need to be thinking about that now and seems they never think beyond one window.

And the answer to our situation is that we can't.

What we can do though is work as hard as possible, run as far as possible, be committed as possible and support each other as much as possible and hopefully, with luck on our side, that's enough to not only bridge the quality gap but over the season, actually surpass it.

I wonder how our budget compared to Lincoln. They must be a mid table budget at best?

Correct, but as the OP says it was overseen by Rupp.

It's a fine balance between having quality and grafters. Many of the teams below us have good quality players, but that hasn't stopped us being above them all season. When Leicester won the Premier league they weren't a team packed with superstars, and what probably did for them in the follow years was the impact of playing European football.
Back to ourselves and no doubt the squad has over performed this season. The players brought in last summer were probably bought to ensure we stayed up, not push for promotion. If we do go up this year it'll probably be the same, with players brought in to ensure survival rather than push for promotion.

You’d think with some comments on here we’d just avoided relegation,we’ve done magnificently this season. Of our fellow promoted teams Port Vale are down, Wimbledon just survived and Donny after a big scare just avoid being in the relegation mix. Give the club some credit and enjoy what we’ve achieved.

Fully agree big spending Bolton failed to beat us over two games we ended Plymouths charge for promotion we finished above Huddersfield and their big spending. Think of the many positives of the season over the few negatives. Despite the words there won’t be many who at the srart of the season that thought we would do so well

Invest in 3 or 4 quality players and stop signing squad fillers that are absolute dross e.g. White, Sibley, Wheatley, Mullin, etc.

Also need to build better relationships with PL clubs, to gain access to higher calibre loans. Our use of the loan market is shocking.

Last summer's recruitment relied on getting L1 experience in the team at reasonable cost and although that meant we had an aged squad, we have held our own with high levels of fitness.
If MBanq is really gonna load the transfer kitty then the strategy may change, otherwise I expect the same approach as last summer.
