Other league 1 matches

Not sure they are. I have watched them twice this week. They were awful against Cardiff, they looked a different team against Stevenage. Bolton scored early and after that Stevenage never really had anything to contribute. I think not fully recovered from Saturday, looks like we did Bolton a favour.

 

Apologies, we weren't 11th or 12th, we are 10th since the start of 2026. It's a league where anyone beats anyone since new years, we have 28 points since then and are 10th in the 2026 table, Port Vale have played 2 games less and have 20 points in the same time span, but are 22nd in that table. Not a lot of teams have breakaway form, Plymouth maybe peaked too early given they've picked up a few injuries and are 1 win in 3 or 4 now.

 

Did you expect us to be in the play off mix? I and everyone else didn’t last August. Let’s be realistic at what we have achieved in our first promoted season without largess. Everyone thought Stockport and Wrexhams made a stupendous achievement with their wealth in their first L1 season and yet I believe we are higher ?

Whilst the season could end in disappointment we should be pretty proud of our achievement . J.U.S.T. look at
H.U.D.D.E.R.S.F.I.E.L.D. as not even a remote comparison ?

We are still in the mix, let’s enjoy it .

 

Realism at last.

 

This is where I am at to be honest. Our achievements far exceed my expectations so whatever happens in the remaining games we can take loads of positives.

I really hope we can pick up at least a point on Saturday and get some other favourable results as I don't want to feel like Plymouth are getting within striking distance when we face them next week. Like with any race I feel like those trying to maintain a winning position have more pressure and a more to lose mentality than those coming from further back.

I'm not really one for banking on pre-season expectations, rather just play the cards we are dealt as we go than stick to a "we'd be happy with a 15th by the May" mentality from the summer. If you're top of the league around the mid-season point, you should 100% have at least a top 6 finish as your expectation.

Think you misread my intent, I didn't say we aren't enjoying it? I didn't say we shouldn't be proud either? We should all be incredibly proud and happy with the season. More pointing out that there seems to be very little expectations around out play off run in the fan base at the minute.

 

Nobody will be 'happy' if we fizzle out now we're so close. I suppose what this conversation is about is rating our performance over the season.

Let's quantify it. If say hypothetically we perform poorly over the next 4 games, stumble into the play offs and get knocked out over 2 legs, what rating would you give our season? I'd say 8/10.

 

I don't think you can look at it as simply as 1 game vs another. If you then we are better than Sunderland as they couldn't beat Port Vale and a few days later we won easily and 10 days after Bolton lost to them so what does that say about Bolton?

If we get into the play offs it's because we deserve it and over the course of the season we've been in the best 6 sides in the division.

 

Stevenage are a poor team and there recent away record backs that up ...........folk can alude to refs etc or there negative shite play but other teams over recent months have seen them off with ease we didnt.

 

Its our brilliant amazing start thats seen us in there now going into the playoffs we liik the weakest of the teams going into them and in all honesty apart from the odd game we have looked well of the pace.

 

This reminds me of what Hopkins used to say. Something about us being a good team because we tired teams out so much when they beat us that they then went on to lose their next game

 

Im saying we havent got it in us to put 5 past a play off rival and Bolton have.

 

Not a cat in hells chance Inspector, two is our absolute limit - all due to poor recruitment in the striking dept.

 

Probably a 7. We were in the top 2 and playing well but the January recruitment didnt match our ambitions on the pitch.

 

Stevenage are not a bad team , just not good to watch .but at home they are similar to us grinding out 1-0 wins .they have 3 home games left in run in and I expect them to be in play offs hopefully not at our expense

 

There crap one of the poorest sides i have seen down there and i bet the other club who may contest the playoffs wil be praying to get them

 

I wouldn’t disagree that Stevenage are a poor team. However, we have struggled all season with poor teams. It is not only teams who are good that get promoted. I can’t stand watching them tbh. However last night they were unable to employ their keep the ball out of play tactics. They were beaten by a team who played fast accurate passing and better front men.

We have done incredibly well this season. However I am nervous about the playoffs. My worry is our manager and his lack of ability to change things around quickly and easily.

 

3-1 AWAY from home at Cardiff is better than 5 at home against a team hoping for a one nil….Lets be realistic instead of aping other sides, some with double and treble our spending power. You pretend to support the wrong club if you can’t see that? It’s a silly lazy comparison so why allude to it? The result just FOUR days ago, Cardiff 2, Bolton 0. We murdered that if you want to play the silly comparison game.

They couldn’t play the timewasting game because they went one down, it’s that simple . Even Revell said as much in his post match interview. “ We had to change our plan” or words to that effect. Even the biased Huddersfield video blog , all three contributors said we would have murdered Stevenage on another day .
