Sarcevic Appreciation Thread

I don’t think he gets enough recognition. Throughout his career I’ve always thought he was class - I wrote a few weeks ago the only disappointment for me is we get his latter years of his career.

Played and managed in the right way, you couldn’t put it past him kicking on for a few more seasons.

 

Deserves a new deal and a statue ..........

 

The word 'legend' is often over used, but for me Sarc is there already. Like Gary Jones who was only here for 2 years at the end of his career, he will be spoken about at this club long after he's hung up his boots.
A class act on and off the pitch.

We are half the team in an attacking sense when he’s not there.

Said it yesterday and I’m sticking with it - First name on the team sheet for me.

Nobody else has the nous that he’s got.

He just consistently gets in to positions that cause the opposition problems

 

Player of the season for me.

My favourite player and character for a very long time.

He is certainly the man for the occasion. He defies logic at times to be honest. He must have an inbuilt duracell battery. The way he was still running and working so hard after 95 minutes yesterday was incredible.

No matter which league we are in, he surely deserves a new contract offer. I will be amazed if his agent hasnt already been bombarded with enquiries from other clubs.

 

If we don’t go up every team in league 1 with any intent of being up there will be offering him a contract.

He’s one of those players that fans of every team he plays against says “I wish we had a player like that”

 

Got to be the most influential player we have signed in the last few years
Simply put if he is fit he starts
I think at the time he signed Stockport said he wasn't the man to propel them towards the Championship
Wonder if they are still standing by that statement

 

I absolutely love the guy, echo others in that i wish we could've singed him a few years earlier. Just a superb player and leader his attitude and workrate is spot on. His scoring record whilst at city is great for his position.

In the Jamie Raynor interview he mentions that he is going through a tough personal time as his mum is seriously ill, that's why he's shaved his head, so assume chemo . He seems a brilliant character off the pitch, clearly a family man. Sending all the love in the world to him and his family. Having gone through similar with my dad it is a horrible time and hope he can take some comfort that 1000s of city fans are behind him.

 

Totally understand what has been said but could this be another Andy Cook/ Smallwood type decision at the seasons end ?
If we have the one year option , then I’d certainly take the option up , but the conundrum would be if not, would we offer him two years?
Decisions , decisions . Having the one year option in our favour removes that element of doubt Idle?

Club statement on signing but no detail . “ Initial” . So on face value there is an “ option” ?

Metcalf in 12 months time could be a real contender . ?

 

For those on here who may remember my posts, I’ve waxed lyrical about Sarc many times, and previously said I just wished we had got him a few years earlier. I don't think he was particularly liked at Bolton (no idea why), which is where I first noticed him, so he went to Stockport. Why Stockport didn’t push the boat out and give him a two year contract (if that’s why he came to us) I bet they now wish they had. One of my favourite all round players in over 60 years attending and I’ve seen a lot of players in that time.

 

I think the difference with Sarce is his football intelligence is probably higher than Cook and Smallwood - I mean that respectfully to both who have had great careers.

I suppose there’s a reason Sarce has spent most of his career around leagues 1-2, however I think he could offer something to the right club and squad even in the Championship…….but maybe that’s heart more than head.
