Valuations are not only based on things like goals and assists these days. They are so unbelievably data based and to a very detailed level - take the example of Humphrys - Alexander has said "he doesn't run enough to play wide", look at Jackson with not many goals and assists but playing in a championship team. It isn't just the headline stats anymore and therefore "struggling for form" and such terms carries no weight in the discussion. It's very detailed stats on recoveries, sprints, stamina etc that are looked at.

Then once you have that data, and every player has that data set, you go by the figures that are paid on transfer fees and wages and they help to set the asking prices/valuations.

I have no idea what Pointon would be values at but it will not be less than £1m when the buying club is likely to be a championship club who has money to burn

Just to expand (and save you time, Petrov). The City fan that goaded the town fan and his wife on X turned out to be from a spoof account…..some wierdo had been using another bloke’s photo he’d stolen from social media. I don’t know if people ever worked out who was behind the ‘Nathan Beck’ account?

the Hudds fan who was getting abuse was called Ethan, and brought party hats to the cafe for said meeting, hence why admin have a hat with ‘Ethan’ written on for the signing announcement today ha ha

Im just basing it off previous examples where we have had sellable assets in the club and many here have undervalued them

I’m really not buying the rumours of McIntyre coming back. GA openly said that he is not going to be guaranteed regular game time here and that’s what he needs at this stage of his career.

Would be really odd to say we aren’t keeping him on loan for that reason but then we sign him on a permanent deal and either he suddenly becomes good enough to play regularly (after GA clearly preferred Kelly over him) or just sits on the bench again.

Maximise profits and/or tell other clubs that certain players are not for sale

I get your point and ultimately this conversation is moot as to our knowledge, none of our players are currently being sold of, but in the grand scheme of things, everyone has a price at this level of the football pyramid. Even though Im of the personal believe that with a handful of exceptions, nobody is worth more than a mil in league 1, the going rate suggests that anyone half decent at this level does go for a minimum of 7 figures and whenever the time comes for us to sell our key players, we should follow in Burtons footsteps of setting high prices, as opposed to undervaluing our players which we have done in the past (Wells, Wyke). Under a different regime of course but the point still stands

Apologies if this has already been posted. Can’t be bothered going through all today’s pages, Tommy Leigh off to Bristol Rovers on loan according to T&A

If he agrees to be released by Pompey before the transfer window, as you rightly suggest, he becomes a free agent. I can't imagine why he'd want to do that since he would then be unemployed and without a club which is a risky situation to be in. Even if he had a cast iron guarantee from another club to recruit him as a free agent after the window closes, why wouldn't he simply complete the transfer now which would minimise his risk?

Maybe use the Roy Keane 'magic hat' chant and change it 'party hat'?

Maybe the initial loan agreement stipulated that if he plays a certain number of games, we have to cover more of his wages or make an agreement and pay a certain amount to sign him?

hes not a bad defender. Confident on the ball and surprisingly decent in the air. Could just be a case where city didnt want to pay the additional fees but were interested in keeping him long term

I understand hes gone through a period being injury free but I do worry if he has the legs to work in a midfield two

Hope not. Really liked him last time but he's well past it now.

Do ours need that much "legs" anymore? Dont get me wrong, i'd prefer a proper box to box midfielder, but we don't press as intensely as we did, haven't for months and the ball is sailing over the midfielders heads more often than not now. Power and Metcalfe mainly seem to go up for set pieces but wont go venturing too far forward other than that.

    1. Shouldn’t be at 31 but his ratings this season are well down on last

Burton seemingly placing bids on strikers at the moment according to O'Rourke, could be that an offer for Beesley has tempted them...

Might be a load of nothing, might not be signing for us, but still something to keep an eye on. Not sure Beesley ends up at us to be honest, would be nice to be wrong.

Well past it is a bit harsh?

He played in 42 of 46 L1 games last season, 40 starts, 4 goals and 6 assists. This season, looks like he was starting under Steve Bruce but not by Ian Evatt.
