It's alright having a bee in your bonnet about clubs spending more money than us, but like it or not that's the game.

If clubs want to run at a loss or we backed by a rich owner writing off losses that's their perogative, if it's within the rules then any arguement against it petty jealousy.

We can't control what other clubs however we can control what we spend and we have an owner who openly stated he could bankroll us to the championship yet has this far failed to sanction this.

I know we aren't paying all of his wages but Joe White is on 10k a week. Hackett looks like a bargain in comparison.

I’m not using it as an excuse, merely a possible explanation. You above all understand the higher divisional experience , income and squad quality play a terrific part in league outcomes over time ? .

Are you saying Huddersfield’s 22 years of massive investment , league income, squad recruitment has to be somehow disregarded? I dare to suggest it’s 50 -100 times greater than ours in those 22 seasons? . Remember we didn’t exist as a financially viable business in 2002 . Hey that’s near enough 22 seasons with pennies investment in comparison ?

I repeat it’s not making excuses , rather trying to provide a plausible explanation .

Exactly, some seem to think Lincoln have got where they are by luck and very little investment . Remember the furore when they doubled Vernahams and Paudie’s wages to take them away from VP.? What little old Lincoln?

I wish we had that level of backing.

Exactly ..that’s what clubs with minor or little investment are up against , just as I indicated.

Could anyone name a club that’s progressed through the divisions in say the last 10-15 seasons without any significant investment ( from all sources, legal or otherwise) . I’m struggling to suggest anyone tbh.

We always knew the last 3 games were going to be difficult , all three sides have a massive advantage over us with their finacial backers that's an issue only one man can change be that he alone increases finance or as has been alluded to we get outside backers involved.
But for me whats more concerning is not that we lost to those 3 clubs but the way in which we lost certainly against Town and Lincoln.
Have our last two games been poor because those two sides were superior or was it we offered little or nothing with regards challenging them early doors and then have an up hill.battle because we go a goal down.

Personally Dave, I think Alexander has been told "we are not going for it this year" and that has translated into a negative vibe around the club. The same drive and passion that was there when beating the dogs, Cardiff and others no longer seems to be there. His interviews have got tetchy and defensive. He now talks of length of time in division, money, being ahead of schedule etc......l may be wrong but that's my impression and feeling.

We over achieved in the first half of the season - no getting away from that. Now things are evening out. For a variety of reasons including ins Vs outs we could easily find ourselves on a very slippery slope in our remaining games. The next 3 or 4 days will show what ambition, if any, actually exists. A N other summer rebuild coming

That’s entirely possible . It has crossed my mind but we will find out for sure in a couple or so days.

Over achieving or not. We were and still are in a position to gain a successive promotion
We as fans were told that investment would be made
We were told the aim is to come out of the transfer windows in a stronger position
Well so far we look to be completely the opposite to those statements .
If the aim is to consolidate and slowly develop, then tell us. We are not stupid, tell us the honest truth and the fans of Bradford City will back you to the hilt

I hope your wrong too mate, I've heard that so many times over the years with regards Bradford City in those days there wasn't much social media apart from letters to the T&A but with the social media we have now adays every thing gets out eventually.
You know the old saying "never look a gift horse in the mouth", if the opportunity is there you grasp if with both hands and anything less is a betrayal of your fan base.

I often wonder, where City would be if we hadn’t beaten Liverpool on that wonderful day
Gone down, avoided the administration, owned the stadium and had the £10 million in rent we have spent since available to the club
It’s all history now , but another example of bad ownership. The premiership days were an amazing time, but in the end so costly

We could possibly have become a yo-yo club although unlikely as parachute payments didn't start till 2006-07 season.

We also were not competing with the amounts of cash being pissed against the wall, at all levels throughout the game like today

All the fault of television one way or another . Even back in the days of woe, kicked off by Geoff, were created by chasing the goose that would lay the golden egg.

Totally agree with the original post. If you flip our form around and we had a tough/slow start to the season (as we’re going through now) and then found form and had a run now like our opening run, then everyone would be happy.

Expectations got massively ahead of reality due to the start we had. The truth is we have a squad of players who were mainly all playing in L2 last season, and we were significantly overachieving (both in terms of performances vs results and players performing above their level).

Revamping the squad to compete in L1 isn’t an overnight fix.

Ok, flipping it around. If we were near (or in the relegation zone) and our last 6 performances included the 3 timid defeats that we have witnessed....would we invest in the squad to keep us in League 1 or would we not bother?

Richmond would likely have over stretched getting back into the Prem, he did great things for us and I’m glad it happened. But with who he was he was always likely to end with a big bang. I wouldn’t changed that Liverpool game for the world. We often get compared to other lower league clubs in terms of size, not many of them have had a moment like that.

Very true . We won’t see it again in our lifetimes that’s for sure. Mind you who would have guessed we’d end up at Wembley three times ?
