Mullin and Jay Rodriguez played for the Wrexham academy yesterday, along with Elliott Lee. That academy side looked like it would do alright in L1

 

Elliott Lee is exactly the sort of player we lack.

Tbf Mullins record in L1 wasnt THAT bad this season, he just rarely played. He scored 4 and got 1 assist in 654 mins, a goal every 164 mins, which is a good return. Problem aas he only managed 90 minutes once from his 7 starts, rest were sub apps.

 

A few of them were pens?

 

Wigan are awful looked a team of thugs against us. Two points off relegation zone and a team with nothing about them!

Nope, no pen goals this season for him in the league. His xG in 654 mins was 5.28..... Humphrys has currently played 1,476 L1 mins and has an xG of 5.88

Not sure on mullin, why didn't he get many opportunities in a Wigan team that was struggling at the time.

Ageing striker, unproven at the level, coming back from injury and who's best goal returns have been in league two and none league.....ring any bells?

 

Mullin poor panic choice in my opinion. Suffering with injuries lately and a name straight out of the sparks playbook to appease when the reality is he’s on the downward spiral and not one other team in the top 6 would go for him.

 

Erm..... a pretty spot on description of Andy Cook in 2026 to be fair.

I'm on the fence with Mullin, it looks like he still knows where the goal is, but he's just never fit enough. Signing someone like Mullin with fitness issues over the last few years tells me the pressing days are done.

 

We really do have some weird fans. Alessana Jatta is 27 and doesn’t have much re-sale potential. He’s scored 35 in 65(6) games in League 2 for Notts County.

He’d cost at least £500k and supposedly has an attitude problem, yet he’d be welcomed with open arms just because it involves paying a fee.

There are other options out there with an even better strike than 1 in 2 at the same level as Jatta, considerably better in fact, that don’t have an attitude problem and won’t rinse us with a fee.

Goalscoring is an instinct you cannot teach. Look at Cook at Newcastle. Had no right to even go for that shot.

we’ve signed players like Swan and Humphrys with average records and crossed fingers they’d suddenly pop off here. They didn’t. I can’t believe fans could complain if we get a proper goalscorer in! Like Thorne and Cook, some players just have that knack.

I'd settle for a striker who could score 1 bloody goal atm.

 

He's a L2 footballer, there's a reason his loan at Wigan was cut short…because he isn't good enough for League 1.
