The cynic in me wonders whether that was why Rupp so confidently talked about going for back to back promotions in the summer because he never for one moment thought we'd be in the position we're in so didn't think he'd have to back it up with actual investment.

 

Might be true if it was a small sample of matches that we've just hooked it forward and stopped counter attacking...... but it's been about 15-20 matches now.

Something changed around the Lincoln/Burton games and since then we have been dire to watch. Runs dont happen, counters aren't on, wing backs are now deep full backs. Just really negative and depressing football.

Yeah, yesterday was a travesty in terms of style of play, and regardless of whether we were under pressure and struggling, we have been playing that style at times. A half hour here while a game settles down, a half hour there, etc, so GA has to admit it is part of our tactical armoury.

And we have no forward capable of playing to that style.

The problem is, when we go back to playing football, as we usually do but didn't yesterday, SH doesn't look good enough for me at the bread and butter activities of a striker.

He also doesn't look like he had the mentality of a CAM or support striker because he wants to do it himself.

He can go for me.

But whoever we play up front, they're going to need better team performances to shine, sure

 

Come the end of this window it will show that its probably bollocks again nearly end of the window and you have somehow made your squad weaker and in all honesty whoever come in now is gonna be a panic buy ..................if the club had any ambition then all this should have been sorted in the 1st week not in the last when there is a massive chance that we could be 9 points behind 2nd ..............the club from October onwards what we needed they knew come Jan that we had a run of tough games and yet nothing of note has really happened has it.

We all know we aint gonna throw millions at it but show something that you are at least interested in having a go

 

That's basically what GA was trying to infer in his post match interview. Some referees allow robust challenges from the start of a match whilst others blow a whistle when any player falls to the ground.

 

I'm not sure about that.. long balls to Swan last week and to Humphs yesterday seemed the tactics to me.
GA wasn't animated when that occurred suggesting he's happy with it.

 

Had they had the best ref out there yesterday it would have made no difference yesterday he was fooking poor but he didnt affect that result that red card was our big chance to get something but we hardly laid a glove on them

 

What does that look like though? People always talk about "building". Building what exactly? And what are these "resources" we'll magically have in 5 years time that we don't have now?

 

Just after the red card the keeper pulled the old faithful of cramp even though he had nothing to do all game but gave the players chance to get instructions. Annoying but unstoppable

Exactly, and each and every season we are building and not achieving anything, each and every supporter will be complaining about the players, complaining about the manager, CEO and owner and complaining that we haven't got promotion or even attempted to.
If you are in a playoff spot, the idea is to stay there, not talk about building for the status quo.

 

With 2 Jensens in midfield we should have the speed and the Power to rip the league.

 

We are talking 700k though. Its not alot of money in L1/football terms!!! Just a decent sum to try and get you over the line.

I really don’t know how rich Rupp is. Maybe it’s all tied up in shares….but I just can’t see him spending that kind of money in Jan. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
