Play it long to a 5'8 lad with a hairband who has at least half a foot disadvantage on the defenders and even if he does get the ball, he couldn't score in a brothel. That's the way to get results.

I think it's more frustration to be fair.. we didn't turn up against a team that is nothing special. Certainly town are no better than a lot of the teams we have played this season. Yes, they have a squad that's worth millions on paper but on grass they are OK but not in the same sphere as Cardiff... and we gave them a much better game last Saturday.

I think individually each and every Huddersfield player was better than ours.. but as you say… so it should be. They have been terribly coached by Grant and we could see that when they visited VP earlier in the season. Manning managed to get them to perform today despite only being in the building a couple of days and you could see after the game how they interacted with him, it was like the shackles had come off.

 

What was it he said about Kav last season when he wasn't scoring? Something about what he contributes to the team being more important than him scoring goals? I do like GA but he has some very weird ideas about forwards.

 

I guess it's a way of publicly addressing the obvious lack of goals by giving him praise elsewhere. But at the end of the day we've got strikers who rarely show their qualities in front of goal. We kinda have to make the best with what we have, but it's clear the squad have way over delivered early and now we are maybe setting to what should be our standard?

Strikers for example, you dont sign Stephen Humphrys and expect him to deliver 15+ goals. He's been in and out of L1 and Scottish squads every season without much consistency. Will Swan too, he's been in and out of L1/L2 teams again without much consistency. Kav is still a young lad, not shown any consistency in his career but he's still fairly raw.

All those together, you're going to get enough to stay up, to be mid table that kinda range, but none are that 15+ man who causes a worry for every defence or make the oppo change the way they play to keep us out. Everyone was chipping in for the first few months but it's been so scrappy for months now.

 

I would like to think my opinion is not a knee jerk reaction after another abject performance on the road.
Since the crushing defeat at Mansfield on New Year's day the team seems disjointed, lacklustre and basically don't seem able to play with a willing desire and passion to put the opposition under any form of pressure.
Today how many times did our ball control result in a glaring inability to make something happen.
Our forwards were none existent all game surely by now the management realistically knows things aren't working.
We are so,so predictable in everything we do.
I really hope this form improves but Alexander needs to realise turning up and churning out the same old same doesn't necessarily reep rewards.
Motivation, mentally and guile matchday buzz words without the execution and effort the end product provides fruitless results.

 

Over reaction after another defeat is quite normal up and down the country.
But for me it's the manner of defeat and rightly deserves all opinions based on the result.

we all of a sudden look very average and why GA cannot see that hoofing it has coincided with this poor run - get the ball down and play like we did for the first 15 games or so surely he sees this

 

Neufville was such a player until Sept! Recently he’s struggled to beat a man. Pointon, too.

Was it just a ‘surprise’ factor that caused early season success? If teams have worked us out, whats the new approach and do we need to recruit new players to implement it? We seemed clueless today
