I think where Humphrys lets himself down most is that he doesn't create many chances for others.

I'm not saying he doesn't create any, but he is very intent on keeping the ball at his own feet, and getting his own shots off. Not a bad attribute for a striker, but he isn't really one, I agree.

Swan has struggled and looks like a middling League One player to me, and I'm not really surprised. The only time he surprised me was when he hit that purple patch and I thought "oh boy, I got this guy all wrong, he's quality", but then it all settled down.

I can see the idea, but if I had to guess, I'd say this signing just solidifies Humphrys as our number one choice. If I have a bias, though, it's that pretty much every touted youngster we've had from United has been absolute trousers.

 

Seen a few Man Utd fan accounts saying that strikers Ethan Wheatley and Gabriele Biancheri are both expected to leave the U21s squad at the start of next week and Wheatley signs for us on loan and Biancheri signs for Rotherham on loan for the rest of the season.

We must have had this deal over the line ages ago but the injury is just causing far too long a delays.

 

Only if the alternative is the right type of player with all the attributes Alexander needs. Otherwise, you wait for your preferred target and get the dynamic of the team right. It's a marathon not a sprint. The longer term impact of whoever comes in is far more important than panicing and securing a replacement who is not quite right for us.

Agreed. If GA thinks he can work with Wheatley id rather wait a few weeks than bring in a Theo Robinson/Tom Elliot/Nathan Delfouneso who could play today.

There's probably a medical/insurance reason why the paperwork hasnt been signed yet but I believe all his media stuff is done so we've committed to it unless something bad happens with his injury but it is thought to be minor

 

No news on anyone leaving either. Could be a busy week for the club. I just hope the jettison of 6,7 or 8 players doesn't impact on the dynamic within the squad. Alexander talks of trusting each member of his squad, but it will take time to get to know the new lads coming in. It's bound to have some knock on effect..

 

Well, he'll be reluctant to let people leave if it could leave us short.

If Pointon or Metcalfe play well today there may be offers gulp.........

 

They're on longish contracts and it's January.. ask for 3 mill each and there'll likely be no takers, If there is then Bingo!

Lots of senior heads in the dressing room and training ground moved on this window. Did we move on too many at once? Fair enough if everyone wanted to move on for their careers, but if they were asked to move on that's different.

 

Worst Metcalffe has played for us this season today so no danger there.

Needs players around him and away we sit deep even when attacking so what's the point in picking him

 

Alexander has to put another midfielder in there when we’re away from home. We were continually over run today and have been for a number of games. We desperately need that midfielder who demands the ball and runs into the space in front of him.

On Baldwin, I think he’s done his hamstring but we’ll have Pennington to take his place.Tilt played how I feared he would under pressure. Embarrassing ball control today, let’s hope it’s just one off but I fear any team watching that today will target Tilt and Wright who seemed to struggle again today.

 

If we went 3-5-2 we would gain the extra in midfield but lose on the press but that probably doesn't matter because the press is practically non-existent now.

what weve been creating out for is a quality 10. Someone who can chip in with the goals, create chances and bring a bit of threat to our play. Any time in the season Pointon/Sarc dont play or have injuries, we look discombobulated in the attacking third
