First time i've seen him play watching that video, looks like he can cover all three front positions in a 3-4-2-1. Early impression but looks two footed and quite rangey

 

It will cost them for sure but it looks like their owner is more than happy to back his manager as most believe he would be sacked after their start to the season.

 

First time I've seen him too and now I've flip-flopped from my original apathy. He doesn't look that easily bullied to me and has great balance for a tall guy. I reserve the right to change my mind again at a moments notice!

 

I have only seen him once and that was against Walsall at home when he came on as a substitute for his first game on loan there. Probably not a good appearance to judge him on but he looked out of his depth but he had only just arrived. He has obviously improved since then judging by reports so let us see what he can do.

 

And if he is unveiled tomorrow, I'd absolutely play him on Saturday. Making sure to show him that video and all the Cardiff fan comments about how much he'd terrorised them.

“I've got quite a different opinion of Wheatley as a player to many on here. I thought he started off very weak and got bullied in the first handful of games, but became a powerful forward capable of holding off defenders and using his pace to beat them. I struggle to think of many players that we've had on loan that improved quite so much in such a short window. His goal against Cardiff shows what he can do. I'm not surprised that he'd have preferred to play in a team capable of creating more and one that plays somewhat less direct. I'd expect him to score 8-10 goals on loan for the second half of the season for a top half L1 side.”

 

I’m going to HOPE that Wheatley is being brought in instead of that Palace lad to play anywhere across the front three and that we’ll still sign another quality striker.

If McIntyre is being sent back then we will need a CB too although the one I really want us to move on and upgrade on is Byrne.

 

From my understanding, they're two different types of players. I still think the Palace lad will join, or the backup option on the shortlist will take his place and that Wheatley is more of a replacement for Cook/Kav

as for Bryne. He is 6th choice, and favourited by GA, and for that reason, I just dont see him being moved on unless a first choice CB comes into the squad

Meh! Too much was made of the contract length. Vadaine wanted X over 2 years, but we needed to spread cost over an additional year due to SCMP.

Hindsights a wonderful thing. The same player had 39 goal contributions in 82 app in the league above! He was a coup at our level - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
