Have you considered that maybe GA doesn't want, say, a Jatta, at this point in time? He has got us where we are with a 'band of brothers' spirit and players who will fit into his system and run through brick walls for him. Maye he thinks that a 'star' striker, doubtless on big wages, who is used to being the focal point of the teams he's played in and brings his ego with him, isn't what's currently required and might actually be counter-productive. Just a thought.

I’d really like us to sign a seasoned pro forward who’s not getting game time and looking for one last hurrah. We’ve got a fairly young squad, and another Power / Sarv type stalwart would really help our other forwards I think. Somebody a bit streetwise, knows the dark arts as well as where the net is. Even if we had someone to link up and hold up for Swan, that would help his game massively. I suppose that was meant to be Powell?

 

I recall at the time saying you must be ####### joking when I heard what he'd gone for, when he came to us from Thackley he came as a winger.

I fully accept that as a young striker he may not be consistent as yet. He has talent this lad. Just have a look at his international career.

We would a pay January window fee for a 27 year old who has not played above league 2.. too much of a gamble who probably wouldn't return a profit at his age.
Loans are less risky both financially and contractually. But if a bargain is available then we should certainly entertain the possibility.
