That's right, he's only 19 so doesn't need to be added to the squad list for over 21 players and keeps us at 1 over the limit at the moment which I expect will be easily be met with more players leaving between now and the window closing.

It's a chance for him to show he can fight for a place in the team at a club where they are at the top end rather than midtable and get big crowds.

You were talking like this in the summer and look where we are. Let’s actually Se what the squad looks like at the end of the window

Right!.. we have to realise something.
The first 12 games of the season we were fantastic, pressing high and hard, causing opposition players to make mistakes and we were scoring from all over the park, Sarce, Pointon, Swan, Neufville were having a field day with only one loss.
The following 12 games, although we grinded out some low scoring wins and a load of draws, we lost 3, it was obvious, to me anyway, that the intensity of the press has diminished. Why?.. Well I think with a squad with an average age of 28/29 it had taken it's toll on the players.
I think we are addressing the issue by getting some younger fit players to reinvigorate the press.
I'm all for it, especially with some tough games against top half teams, all of which we have already beaten because of the press.

I think he'll get a run. Kinda put it in my last message, but we might be the preferred type of team for a striker? Our team XG this season is ranked 6th at 34.5, Northampton are ranked 22nd with an XG of 22.6. Wheatley was averaging just over a shot and half per 90 in their system, Humphrys averaging nearly 4 shots every 90 here. We're ranked 9th in L1 for big chances this year, Northampton are 21st. Who would you rather have your young forward lining up for?

I reckon it might be a case where they want the young forward in a side that will get him chances in front of goal. He had a good record in the youth teams, but hasn't really had time where he has a good feed of 2/3/4 shots per match to show what he can do. He'll get that in our system. I think he'll get starts because Humps and Swan do struggle with consistency and this lads pressing looks good from the clips online.

I'd add my opinion that our intense pre season preparation meant we hit the ground absolutely flying while others took a bit more time to get going. Once more teams were up to speed and we started flagging a bit, we've still done well to stay in the mix. I'd like to think we're due a resurgence in energy levels when others go off the boil a bit. I'm really excited for the rest of the season. These young hungry additions are a wise move, I think.

Problem was there were few rewards financially by going into the 1st division. No TV deal at the time and just extra gate money which with our small capacity then of about 16,000 would not make much difference. Jack Tordoff ran the club as a strict business and was not into financial risks, we’d already spent a fair bit that season on Sinnott, Tomlinson and Kennedy so was probably loathe to splash the cash again.

If that’s what the intent is I’m all for it , ( roving across the front as in the vid) but as an out and out “9” I’m certainly not . He’s not strong enough as shown at Walsall, even Saddler gave up on that idea , nor can he head a ball .

Decent signing if that’s the plan .

Read that book bud and its straight from Tordoffs mouth .............he was willing to splash the cash but said players simply didnt want to come ............they agreed a fee with the Saints but Townsend wanted to stay in the top division and went to Norwich .........Curle was another Tordoff was actually willing to pay 500k + for him but it was Dolan who said he wasnt worth it.
I actually thing that Jack got an hard time i mean i get it if he was bagging the money but i bet the sales of Hendrie,McCall and Ormondroyd got swallowed up with plenty of poor signings.

Its a myth Dolan had been sacked by then it was all down to Tordoff and Sticks wanted to stay but had to be persuaded by Maurice lindsay to go and lets not forget there was a fair few big hitters in for him

He was never interested in coming here and if that was true and it was all down to Tordoff then why did he sign Mick Kennedy ??????

That makes sense, but one or two bad performances and he might not play league football for a 10 game period. We're not in the position to give him chance to 'develop' when we're in a promotion race and have lots of existing players in his roles(s).

Is there still weeks to go in the transfer window ????
And how have we flufffed it with months to go :)

You do know goalscoring centre forwards dont go on trees ????
Btw this club got promoted for most of the time without an out and out striker and stands 3rd without an out and out forward.............so its far from the end of the world is it

I’ve read the book apparently Bradford wasn’t sexy enough for Townsend. I’ve no problem with Jack Tordoff he bailed the club out on many occasions even when he wasn’t Chairman.

Well said. BantamJ needs to take a chill pill. We are not a club with unlimited resources. Go support another club in the EPL if that's what you want. In Alexander (the great) we trust.

Completely agree. Most of these signings, including Sibley seem to have been described as energetic so it's clear that we're trying to boost the pace and athleticism in the team.
