With a decent manager they wouldnt be i mean Alfie May a dangerous striker and that loon was playing him as false 9 ...............god forbid Town get rid of him though.

 

Ever since Sharpe came in we have done a lot better in the transfer window so i think we will get it right again they know whats needed and if owner wants to make a tidy profit then he may have to gamble and lets be right how can he lose ?????
Players to sell on and the revenue incoming must be a lot more than predicted ................are we ready for the next level ?????? No ..........but if the chance is there then we must have a go

 

We get promoted without a recognised 9 and we get to 3rd in League 1 without a recognised 9 but yet some are asking we mirror a model which unearths 9s and can't get promoted with these 9s.
My point is the modern game, and especially our way of playing, doesn't revolve around a central striker scoring all the goals.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm not comparing styles or clubs but your point about Countys strikers is miles off. It's the one area they're getting it right I'd suggest. They also play 2 up front which is something we've toyed with at times so not too dissimilar to our set up.

I'm also not sure why you're so certain that they're not going up this year. They're pretty handily placed, just 4 points off the autos.

Poor Matty Platt with his blockhead and crap haircut. Dreamt of L1 promotion and County (not us) were a team that could offer that to him.

 

Tilt, Baldwin, Pennington and Joe Wright make Platt look average to poor at best.

 

Really?

Tilt and Pennington I'll give you so far this season but the other two have definitely had shaky moments, if not shaky games.

I certainly wouldn't swap any but let's not pretend we've got a fantastic range of options back there because we've even had to dip into using Neill Byrne far too often already this season.

I do think we got a better player in Baldwin. At the time it didnt seem that way.

 

Baldwin has now proven himself at league one level. If, hypothetically, he were to move on he'd get another gig in league one fairly easy.

 

If he stays fit maybe, I wouldn't say he is L1 proven after 12 starts.

I think he'd go back down to L2 if I'm honest, no knock on his defensive work as i think he is playing at his level in that regard. But his main asset is his long passing and not many teams at L1 still go that direct. Things might change, football is very cyclical, but the average long balls per game in L1 even from 4 or 5 season back is way way higher than it is now and the teams that come up from L2 want to play it on the deck more and more.

 

A Barnsley supporting friend says we are both after Jordan Thomas from Cheltenham. Barnsley tried to sign him in the Summer but couldn’t get deal through.
