Its with great sadness that we learn of the passing of former player and assistant manager Terry (Taff) Yorath.

He will be forever remembered as Trevor Cherry's assistant of the fabulous team of 1984/5 that stormed to the 3rd division title with their brand of exciting attacking football.

He will always be fondly remembered by myself and other Bantams of a certain age

RIP to his family and friends.

    RIP Terry
Part of the good times of the 80's that ultimately were tainted by sadness.

Sad news. Terry is an important part of our history and while he only played a handful of games, he was heavily involved on the coaching team when we won Div 3 title in 85 and promotion to the Premier in 99.

    A club icon. RIP TY.

He was a fantastic footballer and assistant manager. I think the City faithful appreciate what he did for the club. It is a sad day, he appeared to be a lovely quiet man who I have no doubt will be missed by his family and the wider football family. RIP

He was one of many from the club who after the awful events of 85 made sure he got to talk to as many families as possible. Even in later life he would still contact members of families to see how they were. A true Gent and one we will fondly remember at city for a long time.

    RIP Taff

Two memories from the 1989/90 season, when Terry was our manager. It was a time when I was following City to every match (friendlies and testimonials included).

I started that season by flying to Sweden for the 6 match pre-season tour. I was based in Göteborg (Gothenburg) and had no problem getting back to my hotel there after each of the first five matches, but there was no train back after the final match at Limmareds. Another City fan mentioned this to Terry and Terry generously offered me a place on the team coach as they were also travelling back to Göteborg after the match.

Later that season, after a Saturday match at Plymouth, I travelled to Newquay, as City had arranged a Monday night match there as part of Newquay FC's centenary celebrations. After the match, Terry spotted me in the club bar and came over and thrust some money into my hand and told me to get a drink in for every City fan that was there.

Sadly, that season was unsuccessful and Terry's reign as manager was short lived but, as others have mentioned, he was much more successful as a player and coach. One thing I am certain of, however, is that he was one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

    RIP

Very sad news, I remember him as my first proper manager when I started supporting city and he seemed like a real gent. The piece of on BBC breakfast news chose to show a clip of him missing a penalty for Wales which prevented them from qualifying for the World Cup. I thought that was a bit of a tasteless choice given what he had achieved in his career
