The asking price harmed us. Its no secret Rupp probably wants back every penny he has invested in us - and probably something on top. Value dropped moving down to L2 which was a hindrance, so now we are back in L1 then Rupp is more likely to get his Deutsche Marks back.

No idea what we are worth or what Rupp wants, but I'm sure 1 or 2 on here have speculated Rupp wanted £10m...

 

If there is anything in it there could be investment rather than takeover

 

Investment first to get us over the line into the Championship and then full takeover to allow the club to compete in the 2nd tier which it currently couldn’t.

I agree, no smoke without fire. Rupp must know (he's worth reportedly 100M, and won't throw it all away) he won't be in a position to invest the required funds to make us competitive, so its either investment from outside or a takeover in my opinion, now could be a good time to sell before we get our arses kicked in the Championship perhaps ?

 

I think you’re thinking of Friends Provident, which was a life assurance and pensions friendly society set up by Quakers in the nineteenth century. It’s now been subsumed into the Aviva group of companies. Sounds like the Seattle Provident is a totally different entity.

 

Totally agree with this, the guy sounds like a proper soccer... football man, as said in his Wikipedia page. If there was anything in this, then I'd rather have someone like him that as you said Nagle who is a businessman or a celebrity like Snoop Dog/Martha Stewart who would probably get bored within a few years.
If Sparks had just gone to the impressive stadium they have, I'd have said it may have been just a tour, but going to the training ground is a lot more personal, so again something in it. Let's just see what happens.

£10m rings a bell back when the protests were happening which covered his initial spends as well as some money he plunked in over the years. But that was back in L2 when we weren't that attractive in the bottom half.

Or he could be thinking of Provident Financial which was based in Bradford and used to do doorstep lending and payday loans at exorbitant interest rates, a legal loan shark. It got into difficulty and was taken over by Vanquis Bank and the HQ in Bradford closed.
