I'll say what I said a few week ago, talk is cheap actions speak louder than words, proof will be in the pudding and all the other cliches. That said for those who did want to see an apology at least it's a positive step and it takes some guts to admit a mistake even if not all of them. I've never really considered myself pro or anti these owners until recently, but for the next month or two at least I'll get back on my fence. And watch everything to see if lessons really have been learnt. The key phrase from all this for me is:

"He is a great leader and will make the right decisions for us within the football department."Regarding Hopkin. I'm going to put words in his mouth here and say he is saying Hopkin is the professional here he has all say on footballing matters. Even if that's not what he's saying it's his only and last chance of redemption, so it's up to him to prove the doubters wrong.

Now for the game Saturday, it's a vital game even this early on. Ignore Rahic for the day or at least from 3pm until 4:45pm, Hopkin and the players need us more than ever they are all that matter during that time. I remember in 2015 when we got off to a dreadful start think it was 2 points from the first 4 games, then up popped a certain Devante Cole in the 94th Minute against Port Vale in a dreadful game of football, I'd bite your hand of for something similar now.

Well an apology is a start, but if he really wants to make an impression and start to get me back onside then he needs to sack Mrs Rahic or at least put her in a suitable position on an appropriate salary, not the 100 grand that has been said by some and then get James Mason back into the club, maybe even Wendy (if they will come back) and let them do their jobs without him interfering.
To me this would show that he is actually sorry for his mistakes.
Eat humble pie Edin and show us your apology actually means something.

The bloke has systematically dismantled the club. R&R said they had learned lessons at the end of last season. Edin continued to carry along in the same way.
Either Rupp was deceived or neither of them meant a word.
So for me an apology now is welcomed but doesn’t change the fact that he has driven city to a 6 season low and mislead the fans.
He needs to leave his role and appoint proper football people in significant roles at the club and to be frank I don’t see him doing this.
For many it won’t be enough until he leaves the club altogether. I’m afraid that’s where I’m at. I have no trust in the bloke and would prefer Rupp to take the reins or sell up.

''lets draw a line, let's just give him another chance, just get behind the lads ffs' nah, piss off. The only reason hes said anything is because a national newspaper picked up on everything that he is... And he still wouldn't accept what was said. You can't believe a word the man says, his vision is nonsensical, and will never work with someone with such little experience pushing it. We've gone from borderline championship to potential league two candidates all in the space of a few years under this man's rule. Why are some of us so happy to let this be the case? The grass is greener on the other side, time we left this prick in the shade.

Great move by ER ahead of a particularly tricky game on Saturday.

It takes a brave man to publicly admit you have made mistakes that are detrimental to the club.

I know that there are some who will not believe another word he says and that's their prerogative. ER has openly invited you to share your concerns with him directly so do it I say.

Everyone makes mistakes. He has apologised and admitted it he is at fault.

I will give him the benefit of doubt about the statements sincerity but he knows he is at last chance saloon so any further dramatic blunders will almost certainly render his and SR's investment virtually worthless.

I do hope that this is a clear turning point for the club. I really do.

Now the club needs some time to stabalise and look like a football club again.

    Christ we need it.

I see you are using the wait and see line that I was constantly berated for using earlier this season re MC. :p

Joking aside its clear that something had to be said as the pressure was obviously mounting. I hope that his words were sincere. Lets wait and see shall we? :innocent:

At least it is some admission of his mistakes.

However, he wants to run a football club. That is why he is here. He isn't going to step back and let more knowledgeable people get involved. He doesn't want to listen to people. I hope that changes but I doubt it.

That said, I will be very happy to be proved wrong. We cannot afford for his learning curve to result in relegation.

Good PR at last from Rahic but all I can see is a Chairman making an apology for taking a chance and appointing a coach who only lasted 7 games and he still tries to justify his decision. Would n’t other club boards make an apology to the fans to reduce criticism? It was an embarrassing appointment.

What else has he apologised for? It’s just empty words. He uses ‘momentum’ again. It’s a cop out.
Another chance for him to prove that he has learned lessons not taken. Don’t just talk to reduce personal criticism. Fill the damn vacancies and prove that you mean it!

It reads to me that he is panicking with the planned protest and then the media outburst this week pressure getting to him and he is trying to paper over the cracks.

I would agree if any of that were true. Try sitting down with him or those that are in the key positions there and then say the same.

Forgot to add would that statement have come out without the media and fans backlash over these last few days I doubt it. Like I say pressure is on.

I've seen this happen a lot of times in business, a person is promoted, or somehow parachuted, into a higher position and they are so giddy with ideas that they can't wait get implemented, to prove themselves. But in doing so things can very quickly spiral out of control and then it's very, very difficult to get things back on track again, and, that can't happen quickly.

If Edin is sincere, then this is a good thing IMO but we need Hopkins to stop the rot asap, write off the season with not going down as the goal, get young players serious game time and augment the squad next summer. I do not believe for 1 minute Abbot sanctioned the signing of a journeyman that Southend didn't want who was then made Bradford City FC captain, this sort of shit has got to stop.

Grayson was no fool and read the writing on the wall. Collins was the Knowledgeable Ones pussy. Hopkin is a no nonsense man and if he feels he is being taken for a ride, he will walk without hesitation. If that happens it will be clear evidence that the leopard hasn't changed his spots. I watch and wait.

And no one can argue with that it's a sensible stance! It's the ones who won't even entertain changing opinions that I worry about.... they'll give themselves hernias....

What planned protest? Its all hot air and rhetoric from a few outspoken keyboard warriors.
