What an excellent advert for L1. Two teams who only thought about winning the match. Firstly, I'm not pointing fingers at Walker for their goal. It was a 1 in a million chance that unfortunately nestled into the net. Need to say I'm not a fan of Byrne but for me he didn't too much wrong today. We had chances. Barnsley had chances. If Humphreys had slotted the ball home when we were 2-1 up or Shepherd didn't clear Kavanagh's lob then game over. However, Barnsley hit the bar which could of easily gone in. Ifs and buts but as I said at the start, a great game of football for L1.

 

Unless they're in the bottom 5, then we willi struggle (as is tradition!)

There’s a certain irony about you telling me to relax, given the CAPITALS in your original post. Not sure how it’s being sensitive to point this out to you.

 

A couple of injury worries after today. Pattison's achilles again. Worried about Cook's knee, which took a whack right at the end.
Hope Pattison isn't out for too long and that Cook is ok.

 

Yes, there was a fan, well two i think who recently passed away and one of the posts doing the rounds on X was asking for applause in the 63rd minute as it was the age of the chap

 

Decked more people aint mentioned it ..........had he shot or passed we probably wouldnt be going on about Walker ............ i aint gonna put to much blame on him i mean i bet him and 22k othersdidnt think he would go for it ...............whatever you think that is one hell of a goal

 

Humphreys or Kav score that at 2-1 up we would have probably sen the game out comfortably.


Still aint it great that yet another teamhas come to have a go in front of a decent following rather than last season when teams sat back in front of a few hundred away fans

 

Great game today - really entertaining start to finish. Draw seems the fair result but think we can count ourselves unfortunate not to take all 3 points.

That said, thought Barnsley were really decent at times - the first goal doesn’t need anymore saying about it. Class.

We weren’t at our best at back today. Byrne did ok, but Wright struggled at times. As others have said, we looked like we are missing Pennington and Baldwin.

Chuffed for Humphrys - thought he did well and his goal was quality. Metcalfe looking more and more promising game by game. Power decent.

Above all, demonstrated yet again the never give up attitude of this squad. Right up to the end we were looking to win the game. Fantastic.

Great advert for league one from both teams.

 

The one good thing could be Metcalfe getting a decent run of games.
Looks so unruffled and will definitely not let anybody down.

GA did actually say he was very unlucky not to start today.

 

With a bit more experience Metcalfe is going to be a very good player

 

Shows how far we’ve come that we’re disappointed not to win that.
Barnsley were a good side going forward but were weak defensively.
They only really had the little spells just after their goals where they had a couple of moments, other than that we edged it and certainly had more of and the better chances.
Great game though.

 

Kavanagh is full of running but lacks the quality. The chance at 2-1, where shepherd heads away - he has to bury that. Just needed a bit more loft on it. If it goes 3-1, we win that game

 

Absolutely. Big problem we have is that for me he too similar to Power. You'd ideally like a Ying & Yang in the midfield we have with the system we play.

How can their xg also be so low. They rattled the bar and missed two follow ups to put the ball in the net. Also a free kick had to be turned round the post that was flying in. Surely with the goals they scored (the second being well worked) they were over 1.

What we saw today wouldn't have been out of place in the championship ...

 

The xg isn't a reflection of how close they csme to scoring, it's a reflection of how good the chance was. A free kick is never going to be more than about 0.05 as there's only a 5% chance you're going to score from a free kick. Equally their shot that hit the bar was barely a half chance albeit very well taken. Their first goal was probably not even 0.01.
