I agree people are always looking for scapegoats Tilt is a no nonsense defender who relies on physicality which over the years we have lacked he is quite fast for a big man as well. As you say no complaints as yet

I don't think anyone's complaining? Cant see any calls to drop him or anything like that. There's suggestions where his physical style might work best or not, but certainly cant spot many fans "gunning" for him. I like Tilts style, i certainly don't see him as a left sided CB for the entire season, as asking a 34 year old to cover the wide channel all season long is just a disaster in waiting, but his play is certainly going to be effective for us.

It could be said Touray is experienced enough not to get stranded upfield to leave him exposed? An away side would have to be brilliant at the press and supply a rapid wide out ball to catch them out? It’s safe to say Touray is far better defensively than Adaramola was last season.

There's been honest appraisals of the teams performance. That's enough for some on here to whip out the "scapegoat" card.

Is like the "racist" jibe now, it's best ignored as it no longer holds any weight.

Certainly 34, August 1991. Wiki still depends on someone actually manually altering dates, guessing nobody outside of this forum spends much time on the Curtis Tilt wiki page to actually update it.

Im happy with our business and very happy with the squad at our disposal. You could make a pretty decent and competeitve 11 from the players that didnt start on Saturday, which is pretty much our 24/25 team bar the obvious few.

My only concern is CBs. J Wright will be good for us, Pennington will be solid enough but the rest im not convinced. Its not a bad crop but I am holding hope for at least a play off place challenge (7th to 10th). Think we need someone a bit more youthful and with some legs to achieve that.

If the window shut today i think i'd be happy with the ins, but there's 3 obvious outs that haven't happened yet. A striker is my main worry just as Kav isnt fit, we will see if Humphrys can adapt from out wide to up top, dont know what we have in Swan yet but his L1 record is pants. Even if it was just another body, feels like we are short until Cook is back and even then it's hoping Cook can step up a level after 9/10 months out. I get the CB worries, but i think there's enough talent there to make a working 3 although I'd be amazed if there isnt a lot of rotation and they are a horses for courses kinda unit. GA even hinted at it the need for rotating them today in his Kelly article.

I don't really like making a prediction until maybe 10 games in, when everyone's bedded in better and you start seeing the fluid play better and stating shirts are taken. But saying that I'd be amazed if we are struggling to stay up with our squad and the looks of the rest of the league. Huddersfield look to be playing real life FM and signing cracking players on paper for the level. Cardiff still have some CH level players and seemingly got some good youth coming in too. Luton you'd expect to come good too with their riches and squad. Stockport look a good unit too to make the step up. Outside of that, there's so many teams who most could very easily see finishing anywhere from 4th/5th to 14th/15th with a lot of squads with some talent but question marks too.

Swan with 7 in 37 for Crawley doesn't read as good numbers but half of last season was spent playing on the wing or in a supporting role, plus he was playing for a struggling side. There is hopefully more to come from him.

Humphrys is clearly going to be the first choice until further notice, with Swan and Kavanagh as options. I really don't think we are too far off Cook returning. Those 4 might just be enough until January when we can assess. But yeh, another one might help but its going to be a body IMO.

It's not far off what Eoin Doyle did for us (can't remember if he also took penalties), Swan actually played LWB for Crawley for quite a lot of the time, which will affect your numbers, let alone playing for a struggling team, so I wouldn't call it a pants record at all. He looked better than Humphreys in pre-season, granted not everyone gives it their all in a friendly, but I think he could be a canny buy.

Some don’t look into facts first. Who expects a wing back to have the same goal return of a front man?

I wouldn't look too much into his wing back spell, looks like played there 7 times and still managed to score twice. His goal return per minute wise as a wing back might actually have been better than his stats as a striker in L1.

Regarding Humphrys, my youngest was getting driving lessons from a Barnsley season ticket holder and said to him you need him on the wing to get the best out of him
Barnsley offered him a new contract yet City got him and yet GA is pushing him as a striker (at the moment?)
Two Things To Expect From New Bradford Man Stephen Humphrys - The Lower Tiers

I'd like to think City are looking at an out and out striker, probably loan, and we will all find out by the end of this month but Cookie heading balls down for Humphry's to chase onto is a pretty good option

Its pretty much proven that Humphrys has been more effective out wide but GA has gone on record to say the lad hasnt hit his ceiling yet and he wants to unlock his full potential. Thats all pointing towards a CF role at this point in time.

He certainly has the attribrutes to do that role. Just needs to add more goals to his game. A very solid start on Saturday though - Neufville aside he was our best player IMO.
