I have a memory that either conkers were called cheggies, or that the stick you threw to knock them out of the tree, was a cheggy.

I seem to remember an entire column of Yorkshire dialect in Saturday's T&A.
Probably late 60's, could never understand a word of it.
Gimmer gibber from Mick Dickinson in the City gent was always a great laugh.
It used to be like listening to my much missed old man.
