Are you still against taking the vaccine and would you change your mind if a Covid passport is required to get into venues? @Campbell's soup@Campbell's soup

I’m no anti vaxer. Because of my job I have to take certain vaccines for travel, but I’m not taking one that’s been produced, tested and rolled out in the space of 8 months.

Astounding the number of self styled medical experts who are suddenly sure exactly how long it should take to manufacture a vaccine.

If the authorities weren’t sure that it worked and needed to get something out there then they’d have done it after phase 1/2 trials. There’s absolutely no advantage to rushing out a vaccine that has any chance of massive health consequences down the line. There are good reasons vaccines take a long time to develop, and there are good reasons that this one hasn’t taken as long to develop.

I wouldn’t ever suggest a vaccine should be compulsory, but I don’t think we should be making any allowances as a society for people who are just being obstinate.

You could say the same for any medication that has been developed in the last few years or the last decade. They go through long trials but not decades.
As for the vaccine. I'm just under 60 and no health issues that I know of. Given that I've recently done a walk of 15 miles (non stop) I think I'm reasonably fit. I'm relatively low priority. Doubt I'll be offered any vaccine until summer. I'll take it. By that time I expect around 5 different vaccines will have been given to the population over 5 or 6 months.

the flu vaccine is produced quicker than that each year. Yes it is just a manipulation on previous ones but these probably are too

Hero! Last time I checked I lived in a democracy (albeit it’s been slowly eroded). I make my own choice and couldn’t give two hoots about yours, that’s your choice.

    Completely agree.

I'll probably be taking the vaccine but I certainlywouldn't judge anyone else for not wanting to.

The whole vaccination project is predicated on as many people being vaccinated as possible, it’s not a case of ‘you’ve got the vaccine, and now you’re safe’ on a personal level. Huge numbers of people either won’t be able to have the vaccine, or it won’t stimulate a response that immunises them.

I don’t think this is one of those ‘you make your choice, and I’ll make mine’ things. For this to work, everyone needs to work together. As I’ve said before, nobody would be vaccinated if they didn’t have to be. If you have no reason not to be vaccinated, there’s a moral incumbency. Vaccination is highly likely to get us out of this mess, but if everyone decided not to do it then we’re stuck like this indefinitely.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it should be compulsory, but I don’t think people should be opting against it for no good reason. Especially given the balance of evidence showing that the chances of this vaccine producing adverse effects are minuscule.

Id be a bit disappointed if I someone I knew didn't but I'd also completely understand. arguably some of the least trustworthy people in the country (govt) now needs us to trust them with our health and lives on vaccine safety. im not taking it because i trust anything put it that way haha

    Is it normal practice?
If it's safe then why this?
"The UK government has granted pharmaceutical giant Pfizer a legal indemnity protecting it from being sued, enabling its coronavirus vaccine to be rolled out across the country as early as next week.
The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed the company has been given an indemnity protecting it from legal action as a result of any problems with the vaccine.
Ministers have also changed the law in recent weeks to give new protections to companies such as Pfizer, giving them immunity from being sued by patients in the event of any complications.
NHS staff providing the vaccine, as well as manufacturers of the drug, are also protected"

My daughter who has kidney problems so she's classed as having underlying conditions said she had read that article and she would not be getting the jab, it doesn't sound too convincing does it.

Our of interest do you know how many RNA vaccines are approved for use in humans? Do you know what an RNA vaccine does?

As someone who worked in Pharma, and has a decent level of education in human biology, I would not touch an RNA vaccine.

I will be waiting for the Oxford vaccine should I feel the need to get the jab.

Interesting comment, I wonder if you turned down the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine you would be able to go for the Oxford vaccine when its rolled out.
