I watched the Barca v Arsenal CL Final today. I enjoyed it. Good game between two very different styles of teams.

That to me is what annoys me about women's football. They are so bothered about trying to prove they are equal that they sabotage making an entertaining product.

As you have said technically they are good but the physical side they are just lacking . As someone who back in the 90's when I was at School had Girls on out school football team and at lunchtime and after school would join us for a kick about I saw first hand the physical advantage males have, in the pre-puberty years they could hold their own, infact one of them was the best on the team but as we approached the ages where there had to be a split in the teams they were dropping off, not because they had got less skilful or we had got more skilful but because of the physical advantages. After they couldn't play in the same school team they would still join us for kick about and that physical aspect caused a bigger and bigger advantage.

Now the things like pitch dimensions and probably even more importantly the goal sizes are sized based around male physical attributes, most sports will make adjustments to create a better package around the women's game, the WNBA use smaller dimensions of the court and smaller balls and Tennis uses lighter balls but we don't get that in womens football.

If we had smaller goals for women then the fact that women have less powerful spring and slightly slower reaction times that would help the game. Just look at any penalty shootout, they can strike it mid height and well within the post which would be bread and butter for an u15 boys keeper and they get nowhere near. Give the keepers more chance and it makes the strikers have to take better shots and you get a game that pushes everyone to get better more and you get a more entertaining game.

And if you make the pitch dimensions smaller you will make it more technical which is an area they can compete in and you give women's football a unique identify kind of like you see in Tennis where women will play a range of shots you never see the men play and also throw in more variety. It might also counter the injury issue, females get cruciate injuries in an alarming rate compared to men which a big part of that is probably related to gate which puts different pressures than it does men when they are turning quickly and sprinting. Focusing more on technique might counter some of that

Women have laxer ligaments than men generally which makes them more prone to injury. Giving them tighter spaces to work in may well increase the torsional stresses they're subjected to and actually increase the injury rate?
