Its even worse when we get squeaky high pitched voices from PL commentators. Boy is it a switch off! See what I did ?

probably due to the viewing figures. If they didn’t get the figures it would have stopped by now

Let’s have it right, it gets broadcast because it’s far cheaper to broadcast than the EFL or even the National League.

I would strongly suggest that the likes of Halifax vs Dover in the National League or random foreign men’s league games would get higher viewing figures than the WSL for example.

World Cup is a different kettle of fish as everyone supports England.

Women’s football is cheap AF to broadcast, and football fans will watch whatever football is on.

So if there is an audience then why not show it?

I doubt if Halifax V Dover would get the viewing figures like the womens game but as no one is willing to show Halifax V Dover it is easy to claim easy way as there is no way to test it.

If the viewing figures were not there the TV companies would pull it

And the problem being? I could understand the moans if the number of channels was heavily restricted and it was taking something off that you were desperate to watch, but the choices out there are bigger than ever. if you don't want to watch something turn over, or just switch off your television set and go out and do something less boring instead

I blame Amol Ranjan. He's seemingly in control of the BBC now and on every programme. How long before he's on MOTD ? Don't get me wrong, he's a decent presenter on things like the one show, but I hate waking up to his sloppy vowels and yeah mate comments on Radio Four's Today programme. Just doesn't have the gravitas required for it.

It is actually showing what England mens team should be doing to teams like San Marino but we never have the killer instinct

Are the games have an impact on BBC viewing figures? Not seen anyone actually be able to provide figures to back up this claim

Pretty sure that less will be watching that than if they put a David Attenborough programme on at the same time. Though they lie by adding in anyone who watches on iplayer even for ten minutes and speeds it through.

They dont lie, the figures are released without iplayer as well as with.
Surely you have to compare it with whatever is on at the same time which is why I said the Buxton match as it is on a Saturday lunch time when the WSL is on sometimes. Not sure what is usually on at 1-3 on a Saturday

According to what I can find, WSL gets around 1.5million across BBC and Sky and Bargain Hunt gets around 2 million. Hope that helps.

    WSL averages 500k on BBC - https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/wsl-womens-super-league-2021-22-tv-audience-sky-sports-bbc/#:~:text=During%20the%202020%2F21%20campaign,the%20BBC%20have%20averaged%20501%2C000.

During the 2020/21 campaign, when the league was broadcast by Sky’s pay-TV rival BT Sport, WSL matches managed just 37,000 viewers.

In addition, Nielsen says that audiences of live matches on public service broadcaster the BBC have averaged 501,000.
