Nice to hear modern day footballers have loyalties to the club that gave him his big chance, but as we know football is all about challenging yourself against the best and that is defenders in the Premier League.
IMO he would be silly to turn a chance to play Premiership football down to show Swansea loyalty, grab the chance whilst you can Ollie.

 

bit harsh to use the Rotherham game as an example - he was hung out to dry in that game, up front on his own was ridiculous and quite rightly we got nothing from him.

I never saw him doing this well whilst at City but I think he played in a team that wanted a certain style of player and he didn't fit that.

 

Sounds like winger, Daniel James, is going to Man. Utd. for around £15m. That means Swansea will be under a little less pressure to sell McBurnie to reduce rumoured debt of £30m+. However, it might make their negotiating position stronger and lead to a slightly higher price if they do still sell.

I was just highlighting to his brother that, while he stood out against boys at youth level, he didn’t stand out at League One level, in a direct side, against physical centre halves....so it was little wonder we didn’t see best of him here.

He was effectively waiting behind Wells for games and we all know how talented he was!

 

He was severely mis managed in a time of desperation, having seen him maybe a dozen times one season for the kids it was clear he knew where the goal was. The instinct was natural although he contributed little else to the team. He moved to a better team with better coaches and they brought today's player out of him. We get 15% but after that we should never get a training fee for him because we nearly ruined him.

 

Not true. If he gets promoted and sign a new deal, he’d still be under contract. It would only be an issue if he left out of contract

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with this. If a player wanted to move but his current club were digging their heels in, the buying club would speak to the agent, telling him what the sticking points are and ask the player to put pressure on from that side. I think players are aware of such sell on clauses, but not the nitty gritty such as how the payments are made and length of time to pay the balance.

The player may even have a clause to include a percentage of any fee received for him, in which case this may include any future sell on fee too.

 

True but I meant now. No sell on fee when it seems like we need the money the most

when a user like me, who is a lot less bother than some repeat offenders is getting a lot of warnings it's fairly clear this forum is in danger of getting over moderated.

 

I'm well aware of the warnings I've had, I just dont know why it only seems to apply to me and not boingboing or anyone else.

 

So please answer the question I raised. Where have I said McBurnie could have/should have signed for a top European club, such as Juventus? If posters “liked” your comment, they clearly agree with you that he isn’t going to sign for one and I also agree. But you directed your response to me yet it wasn’t me claiming “top European clubs were tracking him” whilst at City....!
