Think you underestimate how uplifting football or sport is.

Right now everyone would love a realise. You don't want people turning to drink, drug or violence for a realise.

Football/sport is a sign or normality and togetherness.

Man Utd have firmly come out today and said they want the season to end and I agree. Football will come back but this obsession of next season is defeatist and doesn't give hope for us to get make to any normality and if we don't then they will be plenty of people homeless in 3-6 months.

Totally agree. PL owners do not want to be cast as even bigger money grabbers than they already are. They are already gearing to keep all the money away from the rest of the game and stopping the season gives a legit reason for that.
If They go ahead with what the BBC are reporting and finish that's it for the rest. It's turning Fordy, as I have said it would many posts ago.

Well Man Utd and Burnley have firmly said they want the season to end.

I don't see how it can turn because if this lockdown goes on for more than 3 weeks people will go crazy.

Sky and BT won't allow the season to end. It will finish behind closed doors if it needs too.

I seriously can't wait for football again and I don't care if it's behind closed doors.

What is it that @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler predicted would happen?

I'm not sure I noticed which post is being referred to earlier in the thread?

What do we think is going to happen? Terminated season?

It's a total mess right now, but i just cant see the season terminated at a professional level, too many implications all round. Not got clue what the answer is, but what is clear is we wont be seeing football for a long time, but on the grand scheme of things it's hardly relevant right now. In a weird way I've actually enjoyed all sports been cancelled, as It's allowed me to put life into perspective and realise football is far from the be all and end all. Stay safe everyone....

I can see the season being null and void. It stands to reason that few things have defintely been decided ? Who apart from Liverpool in the PL & EFL can claim that their season was done and dusted. Bolton ? Exactley nothing else was really cut and dried was it. In League 2 it still is not a done deal that Swindon or Crewe were up ? At the foot Stevenage were looking goners but a string of wins might have saved them, who knows and we never will ?. In the National League Barrow and Harrogate might have a case but neither were sigificantly clear to have a concrete case that they deserve to be promoted into the EFL.

The more I rationalise this with the clearly far more serious human crisis that we are in. The more I realise that its childish to be arguing over whether or not we should try to cram in some football just to reach some sort of end game for 19/20. Theres precedant in English football back in WW2 when the season started in September and war had been declared. The season was immediately abandoned and football did not resume at full league level until the war ended. It is no different now; we are again in the midst of national crisis that overrides the game.

Many will argue what happens to players out of contract ? Clubs loss of revenue ? TV contracts ? A whole raft of things; that you or I do not have the answers for. It would have to be worked through for through it we definitely will come. Far better to press reset on 19/20 and concentrate on the detail of working through all of that now and being ready to go again in September for 20/21. Rather than rebooting an already seriously disrupted 19/20 season where honestly apart from Liverpool and Bolton who could seriously claim their position was "in the bag" It is the fairest and most equitible way forward and I commend it to the house !

Apparently if the season is ended now we do lose out on McBurnie money and add ons from the Doyle and Vaughan deals. This is in today’s T&A from Simon Parker. He also confirms that Rupp has funded the losses from last season.

Just reading BBC article about the season ending in the lower leagues and apparently there are about 30 clubs looking at action to block the decision

I'm still not sure why they made that decision so early on.

Its a blow but all clubs are "in it" for one thing or another. I cannot see the McBurnie Money to us being the deciding factor in this somehow ? Yes I would prefer we had that money but if its lost because of a crisis that absolute nobody except some Docs in Chi-NA could have foeseen ? then we're all in the same mess and we have to come out of it where we come out of it. Reset button to me is the only logical and fair solution. Someone might gain someone always will. But we have to accept it and regroup hopefully in 20/21 from September. Unique times indeed.

What are Swansea intending doing? Asking us for the bulk of the money back, nearly £2.5mill, we've already received from them throughout this season? No. The only part of the McBurnie money which is at risk is our share of the final payment Swansea will receive if the Blades remain in the PL. It's not a trifling amount in our terms but relatively small compared to what we've already received.

Spot on Dennis. The season will not be voided, if it was who would decide who is in Europe next season?. As I've said before, Liverpool will be crowned champs and those below will fill the various European spots. The only slight issue is that Man C, Blades and Gunners have played one game less, no problem for Man C as they are in CL anyway but some solution can be arrived at for the other two. Thus finishing the season rather than voiding it, albeit at 29 games sees Blades avoid relegation and triggers the final payment.

I'm talking about the add on for Sheff Utd staying up, not what we've already received. It will be a big financial blow to the club,

Not guaranteed Sheff Utd will stay up next time round. Teams often get rumbled in the 2nd season.

Talking about the extra payment for Sheff Utd staying up @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler and if Premier league teams can dodge extra payments to clubs like us they will do.

Incidentally @Dennis@Dennis youve always maintained Rupp puts nothing into the club due to no report on companies house, thereby feeding the likes of Fordy who wants him out. Parker today in T@A says he understands a substantial amount has been put in by him and with talking to the likes of Ryan Sparks and Mason both maintain we would have been up the creek now without his help.

Yes. If you want to quote me correctly, I have said that it wouldn't surprise me if Rupp had put something into the club to deal with short term cash flow issues. But there is no evidence at Companies House (and there still isn't!) or at the German equivalent of Companies House or anything in the latest accounts to suggest that he or his own investment company has put any significant investment (other than to meet short term cash flow issues) into either the club itself or into the club's holding company, BCBantams.

When you're next talking to Ryan Sparks or Mason, I suggest you ask them how they know he has put additional money into the club when the hard evidence suggests otherwise.
