Risk from Covid-19 is tiny and still falling. 1600 old and compromised people die each day on the UK. That's about 1300 in England. Now look at death rates from Covid-19 for England in the 4th table. Reported on the correct date, they are running about 20 per day and falling

    http://covidtracker.uksouth.cloudapp.azure.com/

That reflects infection rates 4-6 weeks ago. That means overall risk of death from all causes was increased by Covid-19 by only about 1.5% 4-6 weeks ago. New infection rates since then are down about 80%. Current infection rates will see overall risk of death increase by around 0.2-0.3% - and I'm talking about old and compromised here. It's negligible. Don't get in a car or do DIY if such increases in risk worry you. In fact don't get out of bed or make your dinner. You'll increase your risk, it's that low. Lack of virus means infection rates now are nearly zero and mortality rates have been easing for those that do get ill, anyway. It's not obviously worse than flu anymore now we're treating ill patients better. Apart from flare-ups in factories amongst immigrants from countries that mostly don't have UK levels of immunity, there's virtually no virus in UK communities any more. All the hotspots on the maps are now factory flare-ups or similar, probably driven by yet-to-be exposed migrant workers from low infection countries.

Weeks back, Pillar 1 (hospitals) new cases started hitting zero in some Yorkshire regions. (I've heard York's Covid ward has now closed.) Now, we are starting to see zero new cases in some areas with the Pillar 2 community testing included, as well. Bradford and Kirklees are falling away fairly quickly after the Dura and Kober outbreaks. We've unlocked so much now that continuing negligible cases and deaths possibly indicate herd immunity.

    Barnsley - was 1,876 now 1,884 - 8
    Bradford - was 4,140 now 4,168 - 28
    • Calderdale - was 657 now 660 - 3
    • Doncaster - was 1,960 now 1,967 - 7
    • East Riding of Yorkshire - was 1,636 now 1,638 - 2
    • Hull - was 1,535 now 1,535 - 0
    • Kirklees - was 1,978 now 1,996 - 18
    • Leeds - was 3,595 now 3,601 - 6
    • North Yorkshire - was 2,513 now 2,514 - 1
    • Rotherham - was 1,864 now 1,868 - 4
    • Sheffield - was 3,945 now 3,952 - 7
    • Wakefield - was 1,618 now 1,622 - 4
    • York - was 899 now 899 - 0
Sweden is unlocked and seeing less than 1 death every other day now, from a peak of around 100 per day. (On around 1000 reported cases per day a month ago, that's now a lower death rate than normal flu - and they probably did not pick up all cases in tests.) Even after a big expansion of testing there recently, they are now seeing new cases plummet.

Only 352 new cases in all of England yesterday. That's down a whopping 57% on the same day last week. 37 were in Leicester and 44 in Leicestershire. All of Wales had only 8 cases so the Wrexham and Methyr Tidfil factory outbreaks do not seem to have spread into the local community there. All of Scotland had only 4 new cases and Northern Ireland 9.

    A little blinkered!

The following could well be casualties:
    • Driver hits you and loses control and is killed/injured.
    • Driver swerves to avoid you and hits an obstacle and is killed.
    • Driver as a result of the crash hits a pedestrian.
    • Driver and occupants of another vehicle ‘at risk’ because the driver loses control and smashes into them.
    • The driver has a heart attack from the shock of hitting you.
    • A passenger in the car is injured/killed.
    • A pet in the car is injured/killed as a result of breaking/impact.
    • The Emergency Crew could have gone to another incident and saved someone.
    • You don’t see the pothole Fall in it and severely injure yourself!
    • Your family and friends are bereft at your loss (possibly).
    • You suffer brain damage and think you are a L***s supporter
Okay some of it lighthearted, but really think through the consequences of what you post.

Storck - I'm covering this week's numbers - 37,26.22,30,21. Bradford had previously. improved for two weeks. Last weeks 35.9 cases per 100k works out at 178, I think, if I have the right catchment. In 5 days this week we have 136 so more than 42 in the next two days would be a rise on the week. I am not sure I have the population base correct, though, plus figures sometimes get revised. Anyway, over 30 seems bad compared to last week and anything under 25 is probably better. After yesterday's better number, we look likely to be similar or slightly above last week when they publish the weekly data.

However, I now find that PHE are still using data that is not being regularly published and the raw numbers do not seem to be the only factor used, as this article suggests. Also, Leicester is pushing for an even more localised lockdown of varying degrees, feeling that some areas are being unfairly punished.

The fact we are talking about the virus in terms of individual towns and cities is great news.

What isn't great news is that an outbreak at an individual facility can effectively plunge a city into lockdown!

The government must make it clear to ALL employers, bosses and managers that there will be consequences if guidelines aren't followed and outbreaks occur due to poor practice.

The problem with that is companies can provide all the training supply all the PPE and do everything possible to make the workplace as safe as is possible, but you still have people who don't follow protocol and they're the ones that need dealing with.
Where I work now we've had nothing but constant training on how to adhere to the strict guidelines .
To many people don't follow the rules once the bosses back is turned.
Its resulted in us having thermal imaging cameras set up around the building taking temps of everyone.
And the amount of people whove been caught abusing the ppe policy is shocking.
    Its constant .
The company cannot ut in anymore control measures

First the bad news - special measures for Blackburn after hitting 40/100k.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-53400376

And some promising news - Belgium and Sweden have both hit zero deaths on recent days. This is interesting given Sweden had a big increase in testing in early June and found an average of 1100 new cases each day last month but now have only had 1 death in 3 days. It might get adjusted. Belgium are nearly unlocked and considering reopening trade fairs tomorrow.
