    Well I set off in 2 hours, now due to arrive at Nashville about 32 hours from then. And apparently I will be required to do 14 days home quarantine Will probably end up teaching in 2nd week though.

    Having made a 'final' run yesterday to sort out my medication, I'm on the '12 week' lockdown / isolation programme and today is day 1.

    Day 1 - Missing the football, and the pub, but otherwise in good spirits; not sure how long this will last though. Tonight will be my 'usual' post-match routine of a few beers and a curry.

    Ben on the usual cycle ride today, the three of us went 15 mins apart, bit of spring gardening now, I feel for those living in apartments, bloody hell that won't be nice.

    Cut the grass yesterday (it was like a foot high) so the kiddies can play out in the back garden. Put the goal and swing back up this morning, pumped up the football, got the skittle set out.

    Downloaded a few films to watch, some for me, some for the kids.

    Got shopping delivered yesterday which included a box of beer and 3 bottles of wine.

    Trouble is I have an elderly mother who suffers from severe Alzheimer’s, chair/bed bound and is now unable to manage any of her day to day self care tasks. So getting some shopping in for her. It is difficult enough without the current situation. Thankfully a Care Team visits, but it is emotionally sapping.

    Flip flops has always annoyed me as term for your versatile sandal-esque slip-ons. The word suggests a root in onomatopoeia. That as one foot flips the other flops. I dispute the sound would be meaningfully different from foot to foot. Therefore a more accurate name for your shoes that you slip on to put the rubbish in the bins should be flip-flips or flop-flops. You choose.

    I started on Saturday although, yes, the 'instruction' I've received is to start today, for a minimum of 12 weeks.

    Over here we are now approaching lockdown as well -- all non-essential businesses are to close by 23:59 tonight, and we are strongly urged to stay at home unless necessary (food/drink/medicine shopping). Situation to be reviewed in a fortnight.

    Renovations -- just finished a major flooring job, but there are still a few things I can do without buying more stuff;
    Gardening -- just about warm enough now to start on things;
    Music -- my guitars want attention. So do the other instruments....

    And my entry for Top Trumps: get back to translating the memoirs of a certain Baltic German grand poobah. Just because.

    That lot should keep me out of trouble...
