I assume by L2 you mean 4th tier. You have conveniently forgot to mention that for about half of our existence there wasnt a 4th tier,

    WINNER

It needed to be explained and said. Simple !!

Plan NOW for a near City Centre Sports Village ......... With full trimmings. The more that is delayed, the further we get from progress (as a City), and the more Leagues 1 & 2 are engraved in our History (as BCAFC).
Bradford has the land and potential ........ Why wait ??
Holy schitt ........... News bulletins go overboard at Cycle race events, in the region. Those very same Cycle races could well be included, but over shadowed by a full Sporting Village ideology............. IN BRADFORD.

Just to throw in the numbers of League matches to go with the numbers of seasons:

    4602 matches played, of which:
    • 468 in the first tier (Div. 1 / Premiership)
    • 1224 in the second tier (Div. 2 / Championship / etc.)
    • 1854 in the third tier (Div. 3N + Div. 3 / League 1 / etc.)
    • 1056 in the fourth tier (Div. 4 / League 2 / etc.)
    (704 matches were in Div. 3N, 1150 matches in Div. 3 / League 1 / etc.)

So by numbers of matches overall, we are a third-, then a second-, and then a fourth-tier side, and will be so for a few more seasons.

True though, that our higher levels were more in our earlier years, and lower levels later. In my time, for instance, we have been a fourth & third-tier side with only rather brief stays up higher. So there is that gap between history, and what has been the case in our lifetimes.

    I totally disagree, Rod.

Take a close look at available land around the Bradford City centre ........ Add to that, compulsory purchasing of needed land would be far offset by the success of such a venture.
Bradford City Council need to enter the 21st Century ........
For over 50 years BRADFORD has 'talked' about improving road and rail links - Because in the late 1960's, both were deemed to have a limited shelf life. Little has changed, so our road and rail networks are less than fit for purpose now, than they were in the 1970's !!

I offer past (distant) discussions .......

    a) A Single 'through' Railway Station in Central Bradford (Edit; They missed an ideal gateway and opportunity to do just that when allowing the Broadway Centre to be built ....... Imagine - Step off a train, and 30 seconds later you're in a shopping mall !!)
    b) The M606 ........ Linking the centre of Bradford directly into the motorway network.
    c) Compulsory purchase orders to ensure Bradford had a truly workable Ring Road.
    d) (Latterly) ... The Bingley bypass to be just a stage which would include a much needed Saltaire/Shipley bypass, with ready links from Baildon and the A629, on the other side, eventually merging with the Aire Valley Road. (Which could have been the extended M606).

    That's just four.
Each of which were said to be too expensive, or not needed.

The reality is .......... They ARE needed now, but the cost is now way beyond us, ten fold.

Has the OP got any idea how much money Rangers have been haemorrhaging?

I’ll add to this.....Rangers and Celtic would not survive in the PL and the remainder of the SPL would not survive in the EFL Championship.
Scottish football is a very poor standard.

er..... I think your numbers actually show that we have! 62 years in lower 2 divisions, 42 years in top two divisions. We were formed in 1903 so there are 15 years missing somewhere in your number but ....anyway.... Using the number above I think that constitutes "the majority of our existence". Maybe you don't.

How about we get rid of that out of town but in town strip mall just the other side of the railway lines from Midland road. There is ample space for a stadium and parking and it is flat! How about buying Park Avenue cricket and what is left of the football ground, indoor cricket. Again plenty of room for a stadium to meet our needs. Parking not so good there though. These are off the top of my head I am sure there are lots of other sites that 'could' be used.

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Odsal Stadium build it up and they will come ! A beacon at the gates of a once Great City that could shine a light in the darkest of corners. Natural bowl and ampitheatre; great transport links. Its proven over and again move ground rebuild club onwards and upwards. City progressivism at its zenith !

Who will come?. Good transport links for away fans, i will give you that, but not, I suspect, for the majority of the fans that matter.

They should have done it when the hospital closed before it was sold off to build houses. It would have been a massive site for a sporting village. Now even with the Richard Dunn's site I'm not sure it would be.

As stated over a year ago .....

    WHERE ? ..........
Between both Manchester and Wakefield roads, also purchasing St James market area.

    WHO ? ..............
Many of whom are savvy, but not rich enough, alone. Bradford Council could at last make a wise decision, whilst other City entrepreneurs see a fast way to ingrain any financial foothold, in our City.

A case of be bolder to be brighter, or brighter, to become bolder ?

all would and likely in bigger numbers ! Growing and developing the club. The massive interest such an undertaking would create would propel the club forward into this century. Also make us ripe or big investment which one of us is unable to see a better future away from Manningham ? Yes I get all the sentiment and history and I respect everything we have known at Valley Parade down the years. But a rebuilt Odsal serving football and rugby can be catalyst for rebuilding Bradfords broken economy and reshaping perceptions. Is it time to look again seriously at Odsal ? We don't even own VP so it's not as if we loose an asset of the club if were to up sticks ?

    Cham & Prem = 42
    L1 & L2 = 62

I've no idea what you're gettting at it? You've just proved what I was saying.

I think Odsal is a soulless hole with little parking and a mile and a half away from Low Moor station (40 minute walk). For sure from my own perspective it is closer to where l live, but that in itself is not attractive as it is somewhere devoid of the external attributes which make a good match day experience.

The Westfield centre area (former hole in Bradford) would have been a good location with perhaps shops/offices set in the area below the stands would have been excellent opportunity for a modern stadium, integrating commercial, retail and sporting excellence. But hey that would have needed politicians with vision and a club with the acumen and finance to push it forward. Lost opportunity.

Why does a club with a pretty modern stadium need a more modern stadium again?
