    Whaaat! You are deluded sirrah!
The movement in my '56 Eterna-Matic was ultra cutting edge, state of the art technology. Blew Rolex and Omega out of the water with the first truly slim automatic movement. It was produced, for one year only, on the 100th anniversary of the Eterna watch company, in the year of my birth.
Undeniably more bespoke Gaziano & Girling than bloody Loake!

The biggest problem with this for me is the Roman numerals. OK on a day to day beater, but not on a top end dress watch. Simply not understated or elegant enough. For me, a proper dress watch has to have plain hour markers, not numbers.

I have got rid of most of my watches but still like the old citizens divers watch(s) . I have a large sharks tooth orange dial one still. For everyday use I use a Citizens solar powered job. Practical and never misses a beat.

Going out wise I love the simplicity of the Mondaine Railway inspired design watch. I have two, one nothing special but my main go to is the Mondaine stop2 go.

Id struggle to read that quickly. ( Need glasses to read) . 15 years ago , yes excellent. One reason multi dial and chronograph dialled watches are now out of favour sadly.

This was a treat on a Special Birthday. It will need a polish to the case when it eventually goes for a service. kept the Box/Papers.

If you get it polished, make sure it's only lightly hand polished. Obvious heavy machine polishing devalues the watch.

Currently on the train to London for tomorrow's Orient match. Wearing my 70s 'beater' Citizen automatic wind. Only cost me £50 but keeps excellent time.

When I was in the army we had a chef attached to us who wore a gold Cartier watch on out on exercise. Apparently his dad was a very rich Hong Kong merchant banker who said to his son's.." You'll get nothing unless you get a real job in life"
He was a shit chef who nearly got lynched by about 30 very hungry soldiers.

Mine is a more modest Steel case. Gold ones are far far more expensive. It’s a Cartier Tank XL automatic. They have altered the spec on many of them to a Quartz movement. Had mine eight and a half years. Still a lovely watch IMHO.

Different tastes. My Seiko could hardly be more different.
IIts actually a King Seiko, which were produced in the 60s & 70s. It has the KS movement, crown and case but the dial has been refinished without the the KS signature. 16700259345343846484842882793873.jpg
