Well that’d be one way to do it, wouldn’t it...

Takes significantly more than a few drones. The predators carry two Hellfires which each can take out a tank and perhaps anything or person nearby but as they only have 250 it would take a fair few runs to take out just the tanks. We are a while away still from where unmanned combat becomes more than just being a support force.

As for a Nuke if America launched Russia would also automatically so it’s not like that’s viable

You’ve taken my post a bit more literal than intended, point is tank numbers and infantry are pretty much irrelevant in modern warfare. I wouldn’t fancy tanks against drones or people against nukes, as faithful said modern wars won’t be thought in the same way as they used to be as they can’t be won. Unless you’re bullying a Middle Eastern or third world country of course. But I wouldn’t fancy Russia against America not a chance.

Both have around 7,000 nuclear warheads so either side using would risk full nuclear war, Having said that both have small "Battlefield" nuclear weapons they may risk using but Russia with an army of a million soldiers would be reluctant to use when with thousands of strike aircraft on top of the troops would overwhelm most countries without resorting to the nuclear option

The USA isn’t risking their small number of UAV's against a more advanced nation than the nations they are using them in though. Russia has both aircraft and anti aircraft weapons that can take them down. And seeing as the likes of ISIS have taken some down with their less advanced weapons they risk taking a fair amount of losses when the numbers they have are fairly small while not really doing damage.

We might be in a world where some of the battle can be done remotely and there are other ways the battle can be fought alongside conventional warfare but we are not at a point yet where conventional warfare isn't still the most effective and preferred method

Disagree on the last point if it’s against a nation with nuclear warheads, you simply can’t wage war against them. Against Ukraine they can, but they wouldn’t dare invade the EU back by America.

It depends on the reason for the war, If it is to gain territory and keep it then there is no alternative or substitute for boots on the ground,
Russia wants the Black sea ports in Ukraine to advance its influence massively in the area and of course Putin is rebuilding the USSR as it was before some broke away, One interesting point is that when the Ukraine left Russia a large amount of Nuclear missile silos were in the Ukraine, Russia offered to guarantee the independence of the Ukraine in exchange for the missiles been moved to Russia, It may not have been a wise move by the Ukraine

Tanks will eventually be phased out. The next generation of RAF fighter jet may be unmanned in the future, they haven't decided yet. The G forces a pilot can sustain hold back the technology to some degree. A pilotless plane can be pushed further.

I know, i have a contact who supplied parts for the mock up of the new Tempest. They aren't actually sure at this stage as the technology isn't quite there yet but the savings in pilot training in the future is huge.

They haven't built a flying plane yet, its just a model that gets towed around. Still building Typhoons at the moment, i know another contact who works at BAE buidling them.

Planes that fly? Don’t be so ridiculous! Next you’ll be telling me the Navy are developing ships that float.

Nuclear weapons are not a war deterrent, as Pakistan and India have shown. They are a deterrent to use such weapons in a war. Unless you absolutely think the other side is crazy enough to use nukes and cause the whole world to be destroyed then they don't deter war

Using a nuclear bomb would not destroy the whole world you’ve been watching to many movies, it would take thousands and only a hand full of countries have that potential although I’d hope we never have to find out. To say the threat of having your capital nuked if you invade a country isn’t a deterrent is just wrong.

I didn't mean literally but Russia alone has enough to take out every major city in the US, UK, France and a number of other countries who might be on the 'other side'. These countries would hit Russia back in the same way and any country they think would side with Russia and had nukes. You would likely see all 8 nuclear-capable countries taken off the board which would have a massive impact on the world even for those not hit because not only would food supplies in these countries be decimated but the fallout would cause issues in other countries as well

And some of the bombs countries have are pretty powerful. Here is the radius for Russia's biggest one (and they have a few of them) if it was dropped on Bradford

    upload_2021-4-16_13-44-42.png

The inner circle is the fireball radius, takes out Bradford and the surrounding area, almost reaching leeds

The next is the major black radius which would kill people and do a lot of damage to buildings and infrastructure

Then it's the thermal radiation radius which would cause 3rd-degree burns. finally its the minor Blast damage. While the rest of the nuclear powers don't have anything anywhere near that level, while Russia could take out basically all the UK in maybe 3 or 4 of those, the US would probably need about 30+ to take out all the UK its still enough to pretty much end the earth as we know it if only the nuclear powers were to get into a chain reaction caused by one person launching.

Again unless people really think someone is mad enough to start that nukes don't deter conventional war

A nuclear fireball and post apocalyptic wasteland would be an improvement for Bradford - house prices would rise.
