Due to travel to USA at the end of May for the first time since the pandemic. I’m hoping that Biden sees sense and drops the testing requirements by then , as even Canada who took COVID restrictions to another level have dropped testing. I was wondering just in case they don’t what is the best way and test to perform if anyone has travelled there recently ? As it is required one day before travel and doesn’t give much time to do so.

so almost 3 weeks after you post it, I see it. I flew home day after PV game, I got bus to Yeadon airport on the Saturday morning.and had a nurse do the LFT. I left immediately to get to Valley Parade for the game. I got my result by email about 30 mins after the test. At the moment, the US insists than LFT's are supervised by a professional so the really cheap LFT is not accepted. It cost me 40 quid but it was necessary in order to get home. By the way, the mask mandate for flights was due to end tomorrow but has been extended for another 2 weeks. . Hopefully it will all be back to normal by the time you are due to fly out.

Thanks for the advice. Been researching like crazy as British Airways give so many choices. I think we are going to go with the LFT and do it over zoom. You then get a certificate afterwards, it’s a little bit ambiguous as it says one day before. Does this mean to the minute e.g fly at 11am you have to take a test after 11am the day prior?

No, they do it by days. If you fly at lunchtime on Saturday, anytime on Friday works. I decided to do the airport route day before because I didn’t fancy the zoom option and didn’t want to arrive at LHR, test positive and have to find a way back to Bradford. But with all the carry on yesterday where the mask mandate was lifted, be aware the airlines are looking at moving to optional but no word yet on transatlantic mask wearing yet, in the same vein, the testing requirements are likely to be lifted very soon. Just keep an eye on it. Whatever does happen, have a great trip.
