Watched the last one today, a very well produced documentary series that doesn't leave a dry eye in the house. A lasting tribute to those lost and still affected to this day.

A thing that surprised me was that Neil Redfearn was a local lad. I thought he was from Barnsley, the club we signed him from in the premiership years.
Also, I didn't know that he was playing for Lincoln on the day of the fire.

I know a lot of people on here, have found watching the documentary very difficult. In particular if you were at the game, or went to City around that time. My children who are in their 30’s and their City supporting friends, were born after the event. Watching the documentary has dramatically increased their awareness and understanding of the dreadful incident. So for me, putting together the programme, including footage, has made generations, born after 1985 far more aware of the fire and its horrendous impact, but also some of the good that came out of it.

I watched the TV production this evening, further to my time away. Real difficult watch and for those affected, my love to each and all

Still haven't watched the documentary yet although I feel I will at some point and also avoided this thread up until now.

What I will say though is a thank you to the vast majority of posters in the thread that have respectfully discussed the programme and it's contents and helped me make it more clear in my mind whether to give it a watch or not.

I’m still avoiding, as it were , both versions however I am going to have to bury my demons at some stage Dave .

It’s odd because nothing much in life bothers me but this is on a different level.

An associated issue to the actual fire, is the use of flares at Valley Parade. I know many are against this activity, whereas others think it is ‘cool’, atmospheric and a European Vibe thing!

I noticed these details. It really is quite alarming:

Liverpool fans heading to Monday's victory parade are being urged not to set off flares or smoke bombs, after dozens of people were injured - including a three-year-old child - during recent celebrations outside Anfield.

Around 50 people were treated for burns caused by flares being set off after Liverpool clinched the Premier League title against Spurs last month, police and health officials in the city said. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1w3p3pj083o

Alder Hey Children's Hospital had to treat several children in their emergency department suffering with burns from flares. This included burns to the hands from holding flares and burns to the face or scalp from flares dropping on to them. The youngest burns victim was just three years old. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/urgent-plea-ahead-liverpool-parade-31699133

I would have been off the assumption that flares/smoke bombs etc were treated as fireworks and therefore the same firework rules would be applied. I wouldn't let my kids run wild with a box of fireworks and on the same basis I wouldn't be handing them flares or smoke bombs.

The amount of kids under 10 holding up those smoke bombs at the promotion parade in City square was incredible. Many on their parents shoulders too.

I mean, each to their own but it can't be particularly safe.

At the memorial service I was within earshot of a guy that said he was celebrating after the match on north parade and the person next to him was waving a flare in the air. The guy telling the tale said he got burns to the side of the head and noticed afterwards that his city shirt had partially melted....just putting this out there.

    Okay...

I've just watched the last of the 5 ITV 'Never Forget' productions covering the fire after watching the BBC effort previously.

I have to say that all were extremely sensitively well done with maybe the ITV ones having the edge, I respect that some people could find it really difficult to bring themselves to watch but I found it cathartic and I have no regrets that I decided to see these through.

I just hope that we are all still around for the 50th and consequent anniversaries.....

Very much the same prior to the last game at Goodison Park, the amount of dad's with children on their shoulders was shocking especially as it was confined to a very narrow area of Goodison Road even the police wore face masks.
