What do you mean by 'different world'? I know your world seems to consist of doctors, teachers and the like but i'd suggest the majority of the South doesn't revolve around the thinkings and musings of the Guardian and its journalistic content.

The less you read drivel in publications like the Guardian or the Daily Mail, the more you become less of a bigot. That goes for both sides of the political spectrum. Both are designed to imprint their own narrative on either a left or right reaching political persuasion, the vast majority of the country does neither read or exclusively share the views of this type of media outlet.

Following City away I've seen some places in my time, Gillingham has to be one of the biggest shitholes, North or South, that I've been to. Certainly not some southern utopia!

Yeah but you've got to agree 'things' are happening, video evidence, government figures(Yes,I know) ,Some stuff can only be seen in The Guardian but what really is going on cannot be denied and there is enough out there from other sources that shouldn't be written off or ignored, do so at your peril ....

I'll be honest Tone I don't need to read a newspaper to tell me what generally goes on in this country. Not do I need a right of left wing rag to tell what is right or wrong. Same with the media with it's agendas, I make my own my mind up.

I wouldn't class that lot as being intelligent Rog. I know 5 different people that work as teachers or teaching assistants, not one of them can spell for toffee. You'd think there would be a basic entrance exam/test on spelling & grammar wouldn't you!

For me, the biggest run-down shit hole i've visited must be Grimsby, with Newport a close second, and then possibly Hartlepool & Port Vale. I'm sure there are good people in Grimsby, but I wouldn't wish the place on anyone

Haha I do get what you mean mate. My brother in law is a teacher but I'll admit he's bloody good, a natural at dealing with young uns. To be fair he's at a very good Grammar school down south, he only lasted 6 months dealing with kids at Parkside near Keighley and he went back down south, the attitude of kids towards learning was like night and day.

Bit of a sweeping statement that I think Steve. Absolutely no doubt the type you describe do exist, especially amongst the younger ones, but equally there are many who go above and beyond for the sake of the kids....and can also spell and add up

No obviously, I should have said there are many decent teachers as well with high standards. As in all walks of life I guess

I was just referring to the ones I have experienced

I wonder if there's any decent politicians with high standards out there too?

I'm certainly yet to see one step forward.

    Enter Sir Nigel Farage

A decent bloke who wants to instill pride and morals back into this country

Maybe we do. But looking at the state of things, I like the cut of their jib much more than the other usual suspects. Their manifesto may well be optimistic and slightly pie in the sky, but it does a hell of a lot more for me and my kids future than the tories or (god forbid) labour ever will do

It's pie the sky because they don't have to worry about being voted into power.

If they had a credible chance of actually being voted in that manifesto they presented would then be completely unrecognisable to the one they'd have to put out.

Perhaps they finally do have a credible chance of being voted in though? The government in this country has forever been a 2 horse race, and particularly in my lifetime no party has covered themselves in any glory. Maybe the majority of the electorate are so disillusioned with everything, they feel like saying "sod it, i'm voting for that other geezer"

Remember, the Brexit vote worked for Farage and absolutely nobody - even the then-prime minister - thought it would happen. There's a first time for everything, why not now?

    We live in hope

I'd be more than happy to see the monopoly of the two party competition broken by another outfit. Neither Labour or Conservative have any sort of tangible plan to take this country forward, a new approach is exactly what this country needs.

Exactly. I want a "doer" in charge, who has the balls to stand up to the new age of political correctness, virtue signalling, and snowflake attitudes

and I can't even bring myself to watching those god-awful point scoring debates where the PM & PM-Elect are just sniping at each other and not actually answering any questions being asked
