He's disgusting and an utter disgrace. Has to be a custodial sentence.

Disappointed in him because he was a talent for us and hes thrown his career away. No coming back from this in the game.

Yep. And there goes any chance of a career in football.

Unless he fancies moving to Estonia.

Couldn’t give a f**k about his wasted career tbh.

He deserves everything that’s coming to him.

It's not just Estonia! Germany, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Bulgaria, San Marino, Turkey, Hungry....(In South Africa it's 12!)

I am not trying to say what he did is right. I am trying to say that he didn't fully understand the consequences of breaking the law. It's certainly easier if the girl looks older than 14, to ignore that she isn't. He knew full well she was 14, and took advantage of his older age. That is very wrong and stupid. He then went on to well and truly dig a massive hole for himself further, by taking and sharing pictures. Would be interesting to hear if the girl consented to these pictures being taken. Also the sexual activity.
Bottom line is, he broke the law and now has to take what is coming to him.

All I am trying to say, is that there is a difference (in my eyes anyway) to someone who is trying to get away with having sex with someone who is close to the age permitted, compared to someone who has a total idea in their head that abusing a four year old is ok. Same why I have pity on someone who ends up in a bar fight and the guy he hits knocks his head on the pavement and dies, compared to someone who goes out with a knife looking to kill someone.

A point of note, is that I have two kids aged 12 and 10. No way do I want to imagine that my son is ready for a sexual relationship in two years time, but unfortunately kids are much more grown up these days, and it does happen. I've lost count the amount of girls my age (40s) who told me they were clubbing at 14, and as a bar owner, I've certainly seen a lot of underage out and about town more than I thought was going on.

I'd like to point out that there's a zero alcohol limit in Estonia, so your family would be pretty safe from drunk drivers, and you'd also be able to leave the house, because there's very little CV19 here due to the Government handling it so well (and members of the public sticking to the law). Estonia's schooling results are the best in Europe too, so I'm thinking the average 22 or 14 year old in Estonia, aren't as stupid as the ones in the UK to get themselves into this mess from the start. As countries go, it's pretty progressive.

The bit that stands out from that is the inference that the 14 year old girl was stupid for getting herself into that mess....?

My daughter is 15. she's neither physically nor mentally ready for a sexual relationship. any country that has such a low age for consent, I struggle to describe as progressive.

It's only two years difference from the UK. In one years time, you'll have no right to tell your daughter what she can be doing. Do you honestly think that people are waiting til the age of consent in the UK before they start having sex when in a relationship? That's almost as naive as Tyrell Robinson!

Of course I know they're not. But that's not the point and its not representative of context. A line has to be drawn somewhere and there's an element grey around the topic of consent as teenagers develop at different speeds. Two 15 year olds 'experimenting' is one thing. A 17 year old and a 15 year old is perhaps understandable to a point too, especially if the ages aren't openly disclosed. But a 20 year old man, knowingly entering into a sexual relationship with a 14 year old - that isn't grey. Its disgusting.

ah so it's the age gap you're most disgusted about? You're saying a 17 year old is allowed to break the law by having sex with a a 15 year old, because there's only two years difference? There shouldn't be "grey areas" when talking about such topics, but you've proved my case completely. I've said all along what he did when he knew she was 14, was breaking the law, but I'm trying to put into context that there's having unlawful sex with consent with a minor, and there's pedophiles. I don't think TR is a pedophile, but he has done something against the law. My Mrs is 14 years younger than me, but we met when she was 29. Not sure we better show our faces in the bantam bar if you are around :) Seriously, no hard feelings, and this is a good debate because it's an important issue.

No that's not really my point. In simple terms, no one should be having sex before 16. That's the point of the law being defined with a firm line. That line has to be somewhere. 16 feels right, 14 doesn't. A 14 year old is still clearly a child in my eyes - and I think, in most people's eyes'. But there are mitigating circumstances as to the context. Would anyone want to see 2 15 year olds locked up for having sex? I don't think anyone would. Should a 20 year old be locked up for having sex with a 14 year old? Yes, its clearly wrong and clearly a breach of an important law, in my opinion. The question on whether he's a 'paedophile' or is an interesting one. How do you determine it? Is it specifically about consent? And if so, how do you define whether the individual is fit to consent? That's what I mean by grey area. And the age difference IS a factor precisely because one party is below the age of consent. I'm exaggerating to make a point, but take a situation where 2 people have sex, both consenting - 1 party turned 16 the day before, the other will turn 16 in 10 minutes time. Technically one is breaking the law, but its not morally 'wrong' as such, is it? Now take a situation whereby a 30 year old has sex with a 14 year old. Both consent. Its a very, very different circumstance. I'd have a different view if this was a circumstance whereby TR had no idea of the girls real age, or believed her to be above 16. But he knew full well, and still carried on.

And just to be clear, I'm not casting aspersions on Estonia - I've never been but I hear Talinn is lovely.

A professional footballer has admitted a sex offence against a 14-year-old girl.

Tyrell Robinson pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child in August 2018, and making and distributing an indecent image of a child via Snapchat when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court.

The former Bradford City player was warned by the judge he could face jail.

Robinson, 22, was bailed and will be sentenced at a later date.

It's nothing new. I posted in the City Talk forum asking how everyone had missed it. It immediately got moved here - which is how I had missed it and others probably will in future!
