Surprised really, thought there was a player in there and possibly a loan deal may have been appropriate to see if he comes on with game time. That said it’s a numbers game and if it enables someone to come in that will be part of the squad then probably right decision. Good luck Tyler

It’s no real surprise to me at all. He was out of contract in the summer and unlikely to be offered a deal. He needs games. He’s going to be behind FCD and Hossanah at RB, and behind the O’Connors, Canavan and Staunton at CB. It’s a deal that makes sense for all concerned.

 

Yes, very true and ultimately we can only have so many players in the squad. We have cover at right back and we lack cover in the middle and left side so unfortunately it's the right decision for the club.

 

This is the first one we have let go where I think we could have got a sell on fee for, but not long left on his contract which actually could be huge in comparison to the wages cap so onwards and upwards and wish him all the best, where did he fit? Canavan now in prime position for 2nd or 3rd centre back, hosanna, Staunton there for full backs, folds as back up

 

Shame ... Thought he was a good prospect. He lived through some shit times with City only to be told ... goodbye.

 

Always gave his all but never quite good enough to break into the team or even be reliable back up in my opinion

If he wanted he could have run his contract down.
This way he get's a move, I assume with at least an 18 month contract at his next club and not having to be hawk himself about in the summer.

Weren't there reports his agent was marketing him a couple of weeks ago? As with other departures, he's been told he's surplus to requirements and will have a club to go to. I think we've been honourable to guys unwanted and ensured they have somewhere to go before releasing them. In what must be difficult times for lower league players , I'm pleased to see we are looking after our own interests but still ensuring they still get payed.

Assuming FCD continues to kick on he will need competition next season Hosannah won’t be here which means we will be searching for a right back in the Summer. He would have been worth keeping. Having said that it depends how we used the saved money on other positions

Agree with` this but at the end of the day he is a CB, behind our 3 senior ones and behind 2, possibly 3, 18 year olds. He will just not get games with us so I hope he can get the experience he needs at his new home and develop into a league player, albeit lower league, after all, James Hanson belatedly did it.

 

He was better than the others paid up but ultimately this decision suits everyone best long term
