A bit of a weird one this. Rightly deemed a poor signing for us, and but for a very brief 2 or 3 game spell this season, he once again looks a poor disinterested player when he plays for us. But it begs the question, what does a league one side see in him. Akpan doesnt appear to possess the fighting spirit a league one side will need in a probable relegation battle.

 

Although I agree with regards Doyle coming back, can't see why any other club would want the likes of many of our players who can't get a game.
I know many have had injurys but if you cant get a start in this starting 11 as a pro footballer its pretty poor.

 

We have 3 CMs on loan. We have 5 contracted. They are not all needed.

Shay, Akpan and even Anderson will have suitors at some level.

Send Palmer back if we must too.

I thought exactly the same, but in all fairness, if this turns out to be true, I'd be happy because as you say, other than the odd cameo, hes not doing enough to prove hes worth being a starter in the team as others come back from injury, and most certainly not a top earner. If we can offload him, maybe make Cooke a permanent signing and get another couple in on what we pay him then it's a no brainer. Maybe Tranmere are looking for some experience and size in midfield and cover for a potential relegation battle. Hope they take him

 

I would love to sign Cooke permanently. However, Bowyer needs to play him in his preferred position of attacking midfielder, rather than the defensive one. A midfield trio of 3 from Reeves-Cooke-Pritchard-Palmer should be very strong for this league. Maybe even Taylor will prove his worth for extending his contract too to add to the options for beyond the New Year

 

Totally agree with Cooke needing to play in his preferred position further forward. Especially now Reeves is back.

 

It was evident in July we didn't have a holding midfield player. 8 midfield signings later we still don't have a holding midfielder yet many are praising GB for spotting a good player and filling the necessary gaps.

 

Reece brown is up for sale in jan according to Danny Cowerly. Played at FGR on loan last season. Might be a good sigining. If we can afford him anyway!

Attacking midfield. Got a good goal and assist record last season with forest green but not sure we'd need another player there should devitt come back.

 

As in a winger or the so called "number 10"?

If so, I'd definitely say that's not really a priority unless we can also move a couple in that position on.

Fair enough guys, do think an interesting question is what are we going to do with all these loanees that we have.

 

Massively overloaded with midfielders now. I hope Akpan goes to Tranmere, and if we could get rid of Anderson thatd be genius, although Bowyer loves him for some reason. If Patrick stays at Wrexham permanently then maybe theres a bit more room to accommodate, but if it's just down to loanees, if Devitt is close to a return then maybe Palmer is the fall guy who gets sent back to Burton. Itd be daft to keep them all when were crying out for more depth in attack

We actually don’t need much, we have a squad with a lot of quality.

If we could offload a couple in midfield and bring back Doyle, the only position I’d really like to see improved is right back. However there’s no chance of that happening so I’d expect a pretty quiet January.

 

It's hard to sign players in January.
