Wow, is that how it works, Rupp just splashes out? I thought I read somewhere about any money coming in, will go back to Rupp to pay off the money he’s already invested to clear off the debts from last time he was asked to open his cheque book.
Here’s looking for a few players coming in from the leagues above, rather than the leagues below then. Hopefully he’ll also get his wallet out for an assistant manager. Might as well upgrade the sound system at the ground seeing as he’s so flush ;)
    I admire your optimism!

It’s 3 and when we defend it turns into 5. Hard to play 3 against Liverpool.

Vaughan up top first half with Patrick and Scannell wide. Donaldson up top second half with Wood and Ainsworth out wide.

No chance, we didn't play 3 upfront on Sunday in either half. It was a 5 in both halfs with Gibson and Doyle, in each half, trying to make up the numbers when possible.

Bowyer's own words + the article in YP suggest differently. We need to shift players on before we can make any more major signings.

I think you're missing the point. The whole debate is about whether we have a lone striker or a pair in the system GB wants to play.

They were supporting in a 5, Patrick was hardly ever up against Clyne unless he booted it 20 yards infront of him in an effort to get past him.

Ok if that’s the way you want to see it but we won’t be playing Donaldson with Vaughan. I think we will play a 5 or a front 3 depending on opposition

4-5-1 in defence, 4-3-3 in attack, not particularly hard to grasp. Given we didn't do much attacking against Liverpool it was predominately 4-5-1.

Yes, we didn't play a 3 against Liverpool. I get it.

Going back to what How said, which somehow developed into a formation debate off, do you think Donaldson will play left side in a 5 midfield when we don't have the ball?

So is Craig Conway, Wheater (albeit for a different reason) would you say no to either of those two?

Obika was released by Oxford. The other two were Blackburn and Bolton. Plus the other two have had far better careers.

Appreciated, the point I'm trying to make is there are players out there, free agents who can still do a job at L2 level. Obika always seems to have done it at L2, especially in his days at Swindon. Injured at Oxford but if he can stay fit, hed be an asset in L2 at 28 in my opinion

No. I think Donaldson will play on the right with Scannell on the left.

I also think if that is how we line up come August we won't see the best of Donaldson or Scannell.

For me we should be playing to our strengths with would be any combination of Vaughan/ Donaldson/Doyle up front with Scannell causing havoc down the right flank.

I'm also still hoping we bring in a left footed wide player to compliment the system. He doesn't have to be massively attacking and can sit in when needed so we aren't overloaded but even with 10 new signings it still seems like square pegs in round holes a bit at the minute.
