We've only got to play Barnsley once more in the league.

 

Agreed. It's a good job I watched the Shrewsbury game otherwise I'd be very worried. In the context of the opposition's quality and the early manner of the fixture, we won't have a harder home game this season in the league.

I've seen enough already to see there's potential - O'Donnell is better than Doyle. O'Connor and McGowan should be very solid and Mellor will be better than McMahon. Akpan will give us some steel and Scannell and Payne will add much more craft - but they MUST be used in the right system.

Very early, but am Slightly concerned that Wright won t do anything that Law couldn't - and may even be a downgrade. Riley will need time and Seedorf may be too raw to do much this season.

We need more quality upfront and NKP/Chicksen are train wrecks. Whatever the system, they need binning.

So all in all I see potential. The biggest barrier is the lack of experience and reliability on the coaching side.

 

Agree with much of what you say Faithful. Wright did have a poor game yesterday and the reasons for that are unclear as he played reasonably well at Shrewsbury. Could have been the system he was uncomfortable with or maybe the occasion got to him - first home game, big crowd, probably had a lot of family there watching him so expectations high - who knows? I'm hoping it was the system (which can be changed), rather than the occasion as we don't want bottlers, especially not the captain, but I'll see how he fairs in the next 5 or 6 games before making a judgement on him.

The silver linings are it was only 2 and we only have to play them once more, thankfully most in this league aren't anywhere near their quality, unfortunately that includes us.

 

Well, Collins and co have a perfect opportunity to show us what they are made of on tuesday. Good opportunity for a decent performance. Cup progress is financially important too, no pressure.

 

We have still got 2 more points than I thought we would have after the opening 2 games

 

Also hopefully an opportunity to play players like Riley in their preferred position, and to try out alternatives to NKP and Chicksen.

 

You would hope lessons might be learnt. No real excuses, a game we should be winning, probably suits us better being away from home as well. At home this would look a bit of a banana skin tbh. Hopefully we can get through, with a decent performance.
