Now that pretty much everyone bar the odd lone voice of resistance has admitted that this squad is in a relegation fight due to sheer incompetence of those running our club for the last three years, what are the implications at Valley Parade if the unthinkable were to happen?
More of an open question because personally i'm not quite sure what would happen.

Would we be able to survive financially? Does the club survive at all in its present guise? As we have seen with clubs like Notts County and Stockport it's very hard to get back into the football league on your name and history alone. I think the topic is viable especially the longer Stuart remains reluctant to acknowledge we more than the odd player coming in on January 31st.

We’d probably just sink into footballing oblivion at that point.

History will tell you that nobody goes straight back up from that league.

Budget will dictate that the squad will be far weaker than it is now (if that is even possible). We’d have no Sky games. No League cup.

Though I guess we’d have a good go at the FA Trophy. A competition somehow less relevant than the Pizza cup we currently compete in.

Don’t play that roulette guys. We need a new approach. Clean brush and try from January onwards otherwise it’s dire. Our only pull was a large crowd. No financial advantage playing for us at all. No one on that pitch looked comfortable and don’t forget we were at home. Bre upfront. Same as that other huge centre half years ago..... he is a crap as a central half BRE why would he be any good upfront grrrrrr change it before it’s too late.

    I know.
Can't win a header at the back but somehow he's gonna win one up front.

I don’t think we’d liquidate the club as @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler said would have happened had we gone down in 2012. I’m not sure we would have liquidated then as Lawn would have lost his 1 million loan and I’m sure the fans would have rallied round to prevent that happening. However it will mean years of National league football as only 2 go up and there will be no dramatic transformation of this hapless squad. My fear is that McCall will leave it too late when he inevitably quits and avoiding relegation will be almost impossible for the new manager.

No way would the club have been liquidated in 2012 too much at stake for the owners
Today is a different scenario we have an owner who doesn't seem overly bothered about his investment a CEO who at best is unproven and a manager pretty much playing on his past reputation
The fans who have historically fund raised to bail us out won't bother why should they when we have an owner who could do that with his loose change No I don't think we will be relegated (probably heart ruling head) but if the worst does happen more chance of AFC BRADFORD CITY regaining league status than the club in its current guise

Interesting and valid points. I looked at the League tables for NL, NLN and NLS on Sunday, there were 19 former League clubs in there. Admitted some go back a bit like BPA and Gateshead but nevertheless.
I stand corrected but looking at it the other way only Barrow, Newport, Accy and possibly one or two others I can't remember have come back and it took an awful long time.
Going the other way Torquay, Stockport and others have dropped two levels before the start back and our recent nemesis, Yeovil, are currently bottom of the NL. Even one good season does not offer hope for the second. Look at AFC Fylde, play offs two seasons ago, relegated last season. Notts Co. play offs last season mid table now, mind you Abbott, O'Brien, Reeves and Chicksen, plus it is very early days. The message is clear.

I posted some weeks ago that if the season PP replaced Jackson we had gone down plans were in place that would have seen the club fold. Not to say that would be the case today but it has to be a possibility. Imagine the ninth biggest city in the country with no League club!!

Personally I don't think it will happen but there may have to be a reliance on others such as Southend and/ or a series of Admins and points deductions. As far as BCFC are concerned I believe that Ryan Sparks will come of age here, as I said on another thread I have experience of being put in the spotlight at a much larger organisation, you don't know if such things will be a success until they prove one way or the other. All I see is that Ryan will give it a good go and will be getting guidance from some of us Associate Directors where we feel he can benefit.
Things have to change starting soon let's hope Saturday against the likes of Devine, Omari Patrick, Joe Riley, Dean Furman and Callum Guy prove a point at least to them as to why they are not at VP.

Be interesting to see how Callum Guy and Dean Furman perform. If they are even 70% of the players they used to be they would walk into our current midfield. I'm hoping they have lost it!

Genuine question @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler do you think McCall is capable of us getting out of this, or do you think we have to hope he doesn’t leave his inevitable resignation too late for another manager to get us out of this mess.

I might be naive but I don't believe we will be relegated this season. Yes, we will be in a relegation dog fight for the immediate future and it will be a tough couple of months but Rupp will know his own investment is at stake if we were to be relegated especially if the club entered Administration. Paying for a few more bodies in the building and somehow bringing in somebody to help SMc will be his insurance policy against losing the entirety of his original investment. With some reinforcements, we should just about scrape through with our EFL membership intact.

Being relegated doesn't even bear thinking about since the potential consequences for our club would be dire.

Bradford City will not go down!!

The issue isn't about us going down it's how we get back into league 1 anytime soon!

Ones that have ‘come back’ also include Tranmere, Luton, Leyton Orient, Grimsby and the reincarnation of Wimbledon.

Ones that have ‘yo-yoed’ include Barnet, Aldershot were reformed promoted, then relegated.

One step at a time young man. I do believe we won't go down and with a fully fit squad, a new addition or two, the threat of relegation will be extinguished.

But its arresting the decline. As you say, league one. A plan, direction, communication and more transparency.

Oh plus an overhaul of the squad.

I genuinely hope you are correct about relegation, agree with you about League 1 and ultimately achieve promotion to the Championship.

Falling out of this league doesn’t bear thinking about. It’s certainly a frightening thought.

If the unthinkable did happen, we don’t have the infrastructure to bounce straight back, which makes it doubly important to get the set up in place now. Sparks talked about appointments and changes in the coming weeks. I’m disappointed to see they’re not here yet. Based on the fact his appointment has been known about within the club for months, why the delay? I really hope they didn’t wait for him to be rubber stamped before they started looking..

We showed we can match those at the top of the league for at least 45 minutes especially with those currently available, so with injuries clearing and reinforcements brought in I’m hopeful we’ll be ok, but we need to start picking up points before the January window starts.

Other teams are now starting to pick up points now though, they too might have encountered issues similar to ours. Relegation is a very distinct possibility, lets not kid ourselves!

That's the most worrying aspect of where we are at the moment with SMc in charge. He doesn't have much of a track record of arresting a club's decline. I've no idea why that is (although his inate stubborness might have something to do with it!) but he has struggled with changing things when they are not getting well. I'd welcome somebody coming in short term to help him get over that and to change things from where we are at the moment. Expecting things to change dramatically for the better once Guthrie and Novak are available again doesn't sound like a good strategy from SMc.

If coming to age Is offering a awful manager an extension to his contract then we are in deep trouble.

Unless McCall walks we have nowhere to turn.
