The border force are not protecting our borders
The Police are not protecting our streets
The Judiciary are limp wristed
The Civil servants refuse to follow the orders of an elected government
The NHS is broken with unions putting a pay dispute before the lives of patients
The teachers and the media are telling our kids that the Earth is on fire and we're all gonna die
The doom mongers think that achieving net zero (at a massive cost to the poor) will change a climate that cannot be changed by us all reverting back to the stone age...
And the Labour party will do what .. ?

What a joke thread.
The guardians mistake is a drop in the ocean compared with the trash opinions spouted by the usual guff producers on here.
Let me guess idlebantam is Jewish. Also a Tory supporter very much of the Boris Johnson persuasion. So when his crony gets axed from the beeb and the guardian make the mistake they did he jumps on it like the proverbial clutching at straws. -

The Guardian's mistake was in publishing a cartoon, which was intended to satirise Richard Sharp as an establishment fat cat, up to his neck in Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak's old boys' club crony network (which he absolutely is) without recognising that its caricature of his face and other accoutrements confirmed to and reinforced centuries-old stereotypes about Jews. The cartoonist is adamant that this was both unintentional and thoughtless and issued a very full, considered, mea culpa apology the following day . But, clearly, some editor should have spotted it and pulled the cartoon before it went to print.
It certainly won't have been a deliberate editorial policy of anti-Semitism. Anyone who has followed the whole Corbyn/Labour left/antisemitism row would know that the Guardian has been consistently critical of any antisemitism in the LP, supportive of the whistleblowers and Jewish MPs such as Margaret Hodge, and has published a number of articles by staff such as Jonathan Friedland (himself Jewish) calling out the issue.
Once the stereotyping was flagged up, the Guardian pulled the cartoon from its online edition, apologised and published an article explaining the history of antisemitic visual tropes and how the cartoon in question reinforced many of those - clearly not the actions of a paper trying excuse or minimise its error:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/may/01/richard-sharp-guardian-martin-rowson-cartoon-antisemitism?
They also published the cartoonist's apology. Anyone reading that apology who still thinks it was deliberate racism on his part is clearly doing so for their own political ends, because it could hardly be any more apologetic or more open in it's acceptance of the mistakes he made:
https://www.martinrowson.com/
(I'm not sure if that link takes you to the apology or just to his website, but the link in the article above takes you there).
The Guardian and the cartoonist undoubtedly screwed up badly here. But to label the paper racist while ignoring the constant stream of dog whistle racism in the right wing press is laughable. -
