The way for the lower divisions to survive is more exposure through separate TV deals for lower leagues and also sell streaming of games as they are massively under represented on the media,
What brought the success of the big clubs was tv money and exposure and it would do the same for the minnows of league football

 

Also the lower leagues should be regionalised. Whoever thought that making the Conference (or whatever it is called nowadays) a national league wants their head examining. I would go so far as to regionalise Leagues 1 and 2 as well. This would ensure more local matches which, in all probability, would mean greater away support, which would also increase the rivalry aspect between clubs and generate more interest.

 

Still think moving to the European model of transfer windows all those years ago has inflated transfer fees and wages.

It’s made it panic stations every window and no matter how well planned you are injuries and agents getting in players ears will always throw your plans out.

I think everyone should go back to the old window where it was open until around 6 weeks to go of the season or whatever it was. That way there is no need to panic and jeopardise the future of the club on signing players you may not even need as the season goes on

I doubt the premiership will change now as agents and the like benefit too much as it is. However championship downwards should certainly refer back

 

This sounds good in theory, and I certainly would like to see more coverage of the lower leagues, but can it be made to work? I don't expect to see Premiership-type monies coming our way, but nonetheless more than what we currently receive. The TV company/ies are going to have to see the lower leagues as viable-enough generators of income for them to make it worth their while to pay us the sort of money we'd be hoping for. (Or they're going to have to make enough money elsewhere to afford to "carry" the lower leagues.)

Agree with this. I too would like to see the old system return. I would go on and change the loan system as well: no more season-long loans, for starters. I'd like to see it return it to being more a way to get short-term cover in for injured or suspended players, and also as a way to get promising youngsters some league experience. I don't think it should be used to provide fundamental components of a side, as happens nowadays -- including with us.
