    In October 1961 I watched Park Avenue play Czechoslovakia in a friendly to celebrate the switching on of their new floodlights.
    The team contained 9 players who featured in the following year's World Cup Final defeat to Brazil.
    Isn't it amazing how friendly match aspirations have changed over the years.
    I can't remember the score. Were any fellow City fans at the game?

    I was there too, had the programme along with many more but sold the lot to BPA Supporters club some years back.
    Great occasion for BPA in front of a bumper crowd. I seem to remember the great Ian Gibson playing as a teenager. Did Avenue get beat by the odd goal - 3-2??

    Ah Jimmy Scoular - still got his letter inviting me to the training ground for a trial in the 60's!
    Didn't fare too badly but out of 40 or so of us, only one lad progressed further - Paul I'Anson who made it into the first team.

    Jimmy Scoular was still at great player so late in his career.
    Charlie Atkinson later played for City and I think may have finished in the Keighley Sunday Alliance League.
